For 24 hours, let's celebrate a job which is more than a 9-5, 365 days a year.
A painting I completed a few years ago, of my husband working late into the night, discussing how late they would be able to keep going due to moisture levels. This year we have the opposite problem.
These are the people who work in acres, not hours.
The people who go without supper, to put yours on the table.
Who have the highest welfare for their livestock around the world.
From arable to dairy, flowers to fruit, we thank you all!
Personally, I'm proud to call myself a farmers wife.
I see the hours that go into this job, this lifestyle, on a daily basis. Just two nights ago John came just gone 2am, making sure to get a field finished. (This painting is actually inspired by a photo I took of him working out how late they could work, discussing the moisture of the crop)
Not only are our farmers fighting the weather and conditions, but these days they're fighting public misconceptions, red tape and ever increasing standards.
They don't do it for recognition, they do it because they are passionate about this industry, and often because it's simply in their blood.
So let's show our farmers some support ❤️🚜
