Behind the scenes: The Forcrete Installation Process

Episode 4: Finishing the base coats & double mesh👷‍♂️

Day 4 starts as a continuation of day 3. The team are finishing of the Micro-Base XT application on the walls prior to applying the Ultra Belt and Braces floor spec.

requested the Ultra Belt and Braces spec on this project as they wanted it to be as risk free from cracking as possible. The combination of screed repairs and underfloor heating increased the risk, so by doubling up on the mesh, this risk was reduced massively.

Ultra Belt and Braces is the strongest floor specification that we offer at Forcrete. It comprises of 2x cross laid layers of 160gsm render mesh and three layers of Forprime-HB epoxy base.

The project is coming together nicely now, and it won’t be long before we start seeing the top coats being applied.

The aim of this series is to show customers the level of detail and workmanship that goes into a Forcrete bathroom, while also giving installers a look at best practice on site.

This project is being completed for high-end Norfolk home builder , with the installation being carried out by local approved installers .

BYD UK chooses Forcrete for their new showroom role out.

Mono-Stone (L) was applied in a handfloated technique in colour 'Concrete'.

Handfloated Mono-Stone produces a soft, organic, natural stone effect whilst also providing the durability needed in a busy commercial space. This product is highly water resistant and will not damage or stain from standard use.

Well done to BT Microcement for yet another brilliant project.

Behind the scenes: The Forcrete Installation Process

Episode 3 : Sanding, more sanding & Base coats👷‍♂️

Day 3 kicks off with diamond sanding the previous layers. A huge part of any Forcrete installation is the sanding stages.

Sanding is required to flatten the previous coats, removing all defects and ensuring that the next layers have a perfect foundation.

The floor also receives its first layer of reinforcement mesh. Overlapping the Resin Rock joint, ensuring that the risk of cracking is minimised as much as possible.

Installer top tip - Never rush the sanding. A 50m2 bathroom can take long than you think and it is important to allow enough time.

Behind the scenes: The Forcrete Installation Process.

Episode 2 : Mesh and first base coat 👷‍♂️

Day 2 commences on site with some light preparation and sanding to gently smooth the epoxy primer from the previous day.

Following on from this the mesh reinforcement is applied to all edges, angles and interfaces to protect from movement and potential cracking.

Our popular Mono-Stone base coat is then trowelled into the mesh to create a seamless, durable skin and foundation for the next layers of the process.

Each layer of the process is highly important. Spending time ensuring neat application pays dividends on the next stage.

There’s something about the warmth of Olive Brown, Micro-Quartz (Medium) that feels just right in this space.

We love how the soft, earthy colour sits against the darker stone sink. Rather than competing with beautiful veining, it brings out those warmer brown and golden tones running through the stone and ties everything together.

The texture is a big part of it too. Micro-Quartz (Medium) has a stunning, subtle movement to it, creating depth and character without overpowering.

Paired with the dark stone, warm timber and black detailing, Olive Brown creates a softness to the space that we truly enjoy.

Episode 1 : Day 1 On Site 👷‍♂️

Day 1 kicks off with the preparation stages. Diamond sanding, filling and epoxy priming the substrate ready for the subsequent Forcrete layers.

Day 1 is arguably the most important day on site. It can sometimes be overlooked or rushed by installers but it is important to dedicate the time and attention needed to make sure the surface is perfect for the next layers of the process.

Trust the process and don’t rush the preparation stage.
