Below the appliance we placed a 20mm high curved and shaped made to measure matt black leather finish granite base that is ideal for use with solid fuel as it does not show marks from the ash and anthracite debris created when loading the appliance and is easily wiped clean.
Having a matt black finish, the hearth is also neutral and will blend with any colour scheme you choose for your room. To achieve a more pleasing finish, the made to measure dark slate base was cut and shaped to our clients’ individual requirements and corner in our own marble and stone workshops here in North Yorkshire.
We laid the made to measure dark slate hearth in the corner position. The hearth was designed to wrap the window and door reveal to create a more interesting and impressive overall appearance within the room, rather than the one size fits all bulbus teardrop shaped hearth.
We then installed the tall freestanding woodburning stove with the powder coated twin wall stainless steel flue system. The flue came straight up off the top of the appliance and through the wall at 45 degrees to the outside wall. The flue then connected to a 135 Tee which allows the system to be cleaned and swept on a regular basis. The flue then carried on up the wall and around the soffit and gutter line.
The matt black stainless steel insulated flue was then fully secured with strong steel powder coated black brackets, before continuing up above the gutter line and terminating with an anti-downdraught cowl to stop birds, rain and wind entering the system and causing burn rate problems.
Finally, the new woodburning stove was fully commissioned and demonstrated.
The stove was installed with a direct air feed rather than a room vent. The direct air feed allows clean preheated external combustion air directly into the appliance for cleaner and more efficient running, kinder to the environment and cheaper to operate.
During the installation our professional electrician removed and relocated the electrical sockets, ariel point and broadband connection to the centre of the long living room wall. We then plastered over the immediate area where the points were removed ready to decorate.
