AN EXHIBITION OF 25 HAND-DRAWN SKETCHES

to commemorate the 25th anniversary of our studio, an exhibition is held to present 25 original hand-drawn sketches by andré, with some dating as far back as 2006.

offering a rare glimpse into the creative vision behind fu’s first hotel project, the show celebrates a career defined by transforming pure ideas into physical spaces that genuinely connect with people.

the exhibition remains on view until the end of september 2026.

this year marks 25 years of andré fu's studio. to celebrate, assouline presents andré fu: a designer's vision, the third monograph produced by the acclaimed hong kong-based interior architect, and as the title suggests, it's his most candid and insightful yet. each project is accompanied by a thoughtful personal narrative with text drawn from in-depth conversations between fu and author daven wu, singapore editor at wallpaper and city editor of the louis vuitton city guide to singapore. visually rich, sumptuous full-bleed photography of each project is occasionally punctuated by fu's delicate hand-drawn sketches and scripted captions, offering a rare window into the inspiration and ambition behind some of the spaces.

“the original gloucester hotel, established in 1932 as part of the gloucester building, was once a defining social address in hong kong. Its lounges, terraces, and bar were closely tied to the city’s business and social elite. when I uncovered this history, i was drawn not only to the facts but to the atmosphere and sensibility the hotel once brought to the city of hong kong . the intention was to reinterpret that spirit through a refined dialogue between past and present — weaving together subtle traces of memory with a renewed sense of calm, intimacy, and refinement.” say andre fu.

nestled within gloucester house, the typhoon bar stands as its crowning jewel - a masterful reimagining of the legendary hong kong hotel.

in its former life, this was the sanctuary where guests, unable to cross the harbour during treacherous weather, would take refuge with a drink in hand. the distinctive egg-tart ceiling and intricate stained glass windows are lovingly inspired by the original establishment, preserving its storied character.
