Bayeux Tapestry

A piece of cloth that recorded a war from 900 years ago. ✨
It’s called the Bayeux Tapestry — but despite the name, it’s actually embroidery. (Yes, the name is misleading 😂)
70 metres long. 626 figures. 202 horses. All stitched by hand.
What blew my mind was this — it was almost certainly made by Anglo-Saxon needlewomen, whose embroidery was considered the finest in all of Europe. But history never recorded their names.
In September 2026, the Bayeux Tapestry will be on display at the British Museum — its first time back in England in nearly 900 years. 🏛️
Next time someone says embroidery is “just a craft” — remind them that embroidery is history. 🧵
