Popcorn Interiors

Popcorn Interiors Making your space POP into its most tasteful version. It all starts with a seed full of potential: our client’s idea. Irresistible and full of character.

Watching corn kernels burst into the most beautiful version of themselves reminds us of our design process. After a simmering stage of research and exploration…pop! The ideal space bursts boldly into life - a tasteful combination of colours, shapes, materials and meaning.

I spent years helping to shape some of the world’s most iconic brands, including Coca-Cola and Panasonic. But even when I was in marketing, I was already in love with design — sartorial, cultural, environmental expressions of creativity. So one day, after having lived in Hong Kong for a while, I made the decision to leave behind the world of marketing and step into the world of interior design.

But what I didn’t realise back then was that I wouldn’t be leaving my marketing roots behind, and they would in fact form the foundation of how I work today. Marketing has taught me to shape narratives, take a concept and translate it into reality, and bring order to the creative process while still holding the vision. All of that goes into my design projects.

Today, instead of shaping iconic brands, I’m shaping homes that people live in. And I’ve never looked back since.

If you’ve ever felt the pull toward something creative, or if you’ve wondered whether a big change is worth it — I hope this story reminds you that it is.

If you’ve ever stood in a room that you didn’t quite love yet — a layout that doesn’t flow, or furniture that doesn’t fit well — you’ve probably wondered whether hiring an interior designer might help.

For most, interior design means seeing the finished rooms and beautiful shelves on Pinterest, but there’s a lot of thinking, documentation, and decisions that go into them.

Let’s take a closer look together at what happens during the design process, and what it offers you as the homeowner when you decide to invest in it. Swipe through to see how it works.

I’ve been asked so many times why I named my brand Popcorn Interiors. It sounds like a quirky name, but there’s meaning behind the playfulness.

So here’s how the story begins: I was standing in my kitchen one day, making popcorn as a pre-movie snack and watching the kernels. One moment they were there, nondescript seeds, and the next — with a lot of noise and heat — they had exploded into delicious fluffy popcorn.

In that moment, I realised that design takes the same arc: it starts as a seed of an idea, a feeling, or a sense that a space doesn’t quite work yet. Then comes the messy middle part of every creative process, which looks like chaos but is actually transformation taking shape. There are so many possibilities, needs, and constraints being held in tension. And my job is to listen, edit, organise, and give shape to all of this.

My favourite moment is when these individual tensions resolve themselves into a clear shape of the home. Somewhere, during the process, everything comes together — and that’s the pop.

And just like popcorn, no two projects ever turn out exactly the same.

Today, even six years later (need Ale to confirm the exact number of years), I still love that metaphor. The design process is by nature a little chaotic, but that’s also its beauty.

In a modern home, it matters less whether every detail is perfectly appointed and more that the space feels authentically personal, a mix of objects, décor and furniture you truly connect with.🌟

– HOME SWEET OFFICE: A leader’s best ideas deserve an environment that supports his productivity.

In this private office, form, materials, light, and generous negative space are in play. Our client, a visionary CEO, wanted a space to lead from stillness, think deeply, be productive, speak clearly, and create with purpose.

An HC28 Cosmo Spin Sofa, with its organic, asymmetrical form, functions as sculpture and conversation starter; paired with the Limea lounge chair and the Wendelbo Arc Coffee Table, it sets the tone—holding space for decision-making, creative idea generation, eliciting positive emotions, and enhancing mental performance.

For me, the beauty of a space always lives in the details.

The way textures meet, how light hits a surface, the tone-on-tone balance that makes everything feel effortless.

In this project, every element was chosen to feel natural to the space - the terrazzo, the coral, the linen - all subtle, but together they bring a quiet sense of refinement. You don’t need much when every piece earns its place.

Serenity through balance. ✨

For this balcony, the aim was to create a calm, harmonious pause in the day: balanced, relaxed, and quietly uplifting.

Design shapes routine. When a space is edited with intention, it steadies your pace, clears the noise, and gives you room to breathe.

That’s the work we created here: an understated setting that restores without asking for attention.
