The junction between the two cabinet doors forms a T, a subtle way to tie the space back to the brand without making it too obvious.

Same goes for the wood panels.
The black finish is there, but we kept it light enough so the natural grain still comes through.

Warm tones, real texture. The glass on the back wall does something similar, it softens without fully obscuring.

Everything here is doing a little more than one job.

There is a specific reason behind the use of ulin wood shingles for this area. By bringing a material typically meant for the outdoors into the interior, it creates a textured backdrop that plays with shadow and depth.

The choice, along with the banana paper pendant lamps, serves as a quiet bridge between the tropicality of Indonesia and Thailand. It is a way to honor the brand’s roots in Bangkok while using materials that feel familiar and close to our local context.

The aim is to let the textures lead, allowing for an atmosphere that feels settled and at ease.

Beyond the lines, the soul of a space is felt through its textures.

Every material in Terroir has its own reason to be there. By keeping the colors muted and consistent, the focus shifts entirely to the feel of the surfaces, letting the character of the space speak through the grain of the wood and the grit of the stone.

This visual quietness is intentional. It’s a way to clear the mind, allowing one to simply focus and enjoy the coffee without unnecessary distraction.

The journey begins at the entrance with shou sugi ban (charred) ulin wood and black lava rock. These raw elements are brought together to create a small pause from the busy street before the space fully unfolds.

In this space, no line and no texture is accidental.

A little look into the process behind the pavilion at Villa R. This project was all about the transition from raw steel frames to a standing structure, documenting the skeleton of the pavilion and the steps it took to see it all come together. It takes quite a bit to turn these frames into a space, so here’s a glimpse into the moments from the site.

Tectonic articulation.

The overall structure is often the first thing to see, but the focus eventually shifts to how the assembly works, like the orange finish at the joint acting as a visual guide for spatial awareness.

It’s about how these diverse metal elements and joints finally come together as one. No need to hide the details when the assembly itself defines the design.
