A quiet moment before the celebrations, with her bouquet gathered from late September’s flowers here on the farm.

Deep burgundy dahlias, soft blush and ivory, amaranthus, grasses and all the beautiful little details that make an autumn bouquet feel so rich and alive.

There’s something very special about seeing flowers we’ve grown from seed end up here, in a bride’s hands, in a house as beautiful as Borris.

Yesterday was spent planning our bulb and corm orders to bloom next year.

Next month we’ll start planting for what we hope will be an abundance of spring flowers: daffodils, tulips, fritillaries, alliums, and, of course, armfuls of these gorgeous ranunculus.

Choosing the colours is probably the hardest part. We’re not just thinking about what we love growing, but about all of our brides and the different colour palettes we’ll be flowering for next spring and summer. We try to make sure there’s enough range across soft pastels, warm peaches, creams, whites, deeper tones and more unusual shades so that, when each wedding comes around, we have plenty to work with.

It always feels a bit strange planting so much now for flowers we won’t see for months, but this is where next spring begins.
