Elements of Action is a collaborative design practice working in furniture design, landscape architecture and project management. We design and curate bespoke furniture and gifts with clever details and push the boundaries of design to create dramatic contemporary works with deep roots in the local landscape, materials and traditional techniques. All work is designed and handmade in Ireland by our

director Edward Coveney. Elements of Action outsource a small portion of work to local master crafts. All furniture is hand crafted using locally sourced materials brass and steel and vernacular indigenous wood and stone. EOA are members of the Institute Designers Ireland and the Landscape Institute. Our work is recently shortlisted for two IDI awards to be announced in November 2016. www.elementsofaction.net

The final event of the RDS library exhibition was today the 12th August. Elinor Collier partnered with Róisín De Buitlear with the original idea of creating this exhibition celebrating irish crafts and then with her curatorial vision they brought it to the Department of Justice becoming Culture in our Hands - Ceardaíocht na hÉireann.

The beautiful works were seen in Dublin Castle on July 16th - to an international delegation in a private event at one of the first EU Presidency gatherings. It is very rewarding to see Irish Craft showcased in this way.
The RDS show was an exhibition in the RDS library form Monday 20th July to Wednesday 12th August 2026 which included the Gallagher Dublin Horse Show (Aug 5th to 9th)

We're delighted to be exhibiting at Irish Design Works 2026 at Ballymaloe Grainstore.

Our Elements of Action collection explores material, memory and making ; transforming heritage and raw materials into contemporary furniture and sculptural objects.

In this show we featured

• The Cooper Table – crafted using reclaimed oak whiskey barrels from the Midleton Distillery, celebrating the enduring skills of the cooper and combing with vrass and mirror for a contempoary twist on reuse.
• ⁠
• Brass & Ash Side Table / Plant Stand – where warm brass meets sustainably sourced ash in a refined piece designed as an occasional side table or perfect for a Kokadama or plant stand.
⁠
• The Flint Collection – sculptural works developed through our exploration of flint and form ; raw and worked recently exhibited at the RDS Library and Dublin Castle.

A heart in a stone 🩶

The curious thing about our flint work is that we’ll never know what’s uncovered under the rough surface. With this piece, a beautiful heart-shaped form revealed itself in the process. There’s almost something galactic in the finished surface - shifting tones, depth and reflections change depending on how you look.

Elements of Action’s flint stone sculptures will be on show from tomorrow, 24th of July, at Ballymaloe Grainstore as a part of the Irish Design Works exhibition. Come and see what you find in them.

The process of making our Nodule Flint pieces - from raw to polished elements with glass-like details. Fragmented, raw yet perfect

Locally sourced flint, careful shaping and refining the surface. Through a process of grinding and polishing, the stones starts to reveal their reflective and immersive core under the naturally rough & pale exterior. Each sculpture is about uncovering what’s already within the material.

Ed’s work will be available at Irish Design Works exhibition in Ballymaloe Grainstore, Co. Cork. Join us for the opening 24th of July at 7pm!

It has been such a privilege to see this exhibition come to life. My heartfelt congratulations our collaborator Róisín de Buitléar, whose curatorial vision, together with Eleanor Collier, has brought Culture in Our Hands – Ceardaíocht na hÉireann to fruition. What began as a shared vision quickly became a remarkable collaboration with the Department of Justice, celebrating the extraordinary depth, innovation and heritage of Irish craft.
I’m delighted to be among the makers whose work will be presented as part of this exhibition, opening at Dublin Castlebefore an international delegation during one of Ireland’s first EU Presidency 2026 events. It is a wonderful opportunity to see contemporary Irish craft recognised on such an important stage.
The exhibition will then travel to the RDS Library, where it will be on view from 20 July to 12 August 2026, including throughout the Gallagher Dublin Horse Show, giving even more people the opportunity to experience the exceptional work of Ireland’s makers.
It is an honour to exhibit alongside such an inspiring group of craftspeople:

The bringing together of ash and brass,
native timber and foundry metal,
the organic and the considered.

Irish Ash, sourced from Springfield Farm
reimagined and transformed into a sculptural plant stand, that holds something living.

Each piece begins with the tree itself,
its grain a record of soil, season, and time.
Ash is a working wood: honest, open-grained, warm in light.

Anchored with a decorative brass frame.
Solid, warm-toned, and built to age with presence, brass deepends over time rather than diminishes.
Each piece celebrates the contrast between
living material and lasting form.

Created in collaboration with Esther Gerrard and Ed Coveney of Elements of

Thank you to all who came to Springfield for our hands on activities; it was very special to bring the Makers Corner to our own Field Studio and put into action our plans for creative agriculture experiences at our Farm in East Cork;

We will continue to host seasonal workshops and plans are afoot for more craft retreats as new inland wellness for grounding ourselves and burnout cures. We offer foliage foraging to wreath making ; our Springfield Farm hands-on workshops offer a way to unplug while picking up a new hobby in the land of the land.
