Natural stone. Beautiful flames. A fireplace designed to belong.

The Barbas Smartbell 80-60, framed by a bespoke French limestone Bolection surround with matching insert & hearth, brings together the warmth of a fire and the timeless appeal of natural stone.

Every detail contributes to a fireplace that feels considered, complementing the character of the home while creating a natural focal point.

At Flame by Design in Cork, we help you bring your ideas to life with expert advice on fires, bespoke surrounds and stone finishes.

A light-coloured chamber with a wood-burning stove? Traditionally, it’s not an easy combination.

Heat, staining and cracking can make very light natural stone a difficult choice around a wood-burning stove.

For this project, we used Dekton Aries for the chamber trim and hearth, paired with an Aegean limestone fireplace and Heta Inspire 45 wood-burning stove.

The result is the light, cohesive look our client wanted — with the chamber, trim and hearth all working together around the stove.

It’s a finish that would be difficult to achieve with traditional light-coloured stone in this application. Dekton gives us another option.

At Flame by Design in Cork, we consider the stove, fireplace, materials and technical requirements together, so the finished design works as beautifully as it looks.

We’ve had a lot of beautiful stoves through our Cork showroom over the years.

But this one has got our sales team talking.

The Contura 990T Style is now on display — and there’s something about seeing it lit that photographs simply don’t capture.

The tall combustion chamber lifts the flames into view, while the natural soapstone surround gives the stove a beautifully substantial presence.

And we had proof of just how impressive it is today.

A customer came in looking for a gas fire.

They saw this stove lit.

They changed their mind — and ordered the Contura instead.

That’s why we always encourage customers to see fires and stoves in person before making a decision. You can see the proportions, watch the flame, understand how it operates, and get a real feel for how it could work in your home.

And behind the beautiful design, the 990T Style has clever features designed to make living with a wood-burning stove easier — including automatic start-up, a refueling boost and a bypass function to help minimise smoke when opening the door.

If you’re considering a new stove, come and see this one lit.
You may come in looking for one thing and leave wanting something completely different.

An open fire can be beautiful — but when much of the heat is disappearing up the chimney, it may not be doing your room justice.

For this Cork home, the old open fire was replaced with a Contura i1 wood-burning stove, creating a more efficient way to enjoy the warmth, glow and atmosphere of a real fire.

We finished with custom honed granite and a wood beam, bringing together natural materials that give the space a warm, timeless feel.

It’s a simple transformation, but one that makes a big difference to how the fire looks and works within the room.

Lose the open fire, not the warmth.

Thinking about replacing an open fire with a wood-burning stove in your Cork home? We can help with the stove, fireplace design, technical requirements and installation.

A beautiful media wall starts with more than the cabinetry.

For this project, the homeowner wanted a dark green built-in with open shelving, drawers and a TV above the fire. We supplied the Luminosa 150 electric fire, while her kitchen company designed and built the bespoke cabinetry around it.

Choosing the fire first meant the cabinetry could be designed around the correct dimensions, proportions and installation requirements — helping everything feel like it belongs together rather than the fire being fitted into a space that was already decided.

It’s a good example of how different specialists can work together to create a finished result that feels effortless.

If you’re planning an electric fire with a TV above, a bespoke media wall or built-in cabinetry in Cork, we can help you choose the right fire before the joinery is designed.

Most outdoor spaces are designed to be looked at. The best ones are designed to be lived in.

As fireplace specialists, we’ve seen how fire changes the way people use a space.

The same thing happens outdoors.

A real fire has a way of bringing people together. Conversations last longer. Dinner turns into dessert. One drink becomes another while everyone stays exactly where they are.

That’s what makes the RB73 more than an outdoor stove.
Handmade in Holland from durable Corten steel, it’s designed to last for years with virtually no maintenance. Its closed combustion system burns wood efficiently, giving you more warmth with less fuel and hardly any smoke.

If you’re planning a new patio, landscaping project or simply want to spend more time outside, it’s worth seeing the RB73 in person.

Visit our Cork showroom to experience the RB73 range for yourself, explore the collection on our website, or give us a call. We’d be happy to help you find the right model for your outdoor space.

Who says fireplaces are only for winter?

This installation features an Ariel Carrara fireplace package with a Dimplex electric fire, and one of the biggest benefits is that our client can enjoy the flame effect all year round.

With the heat switched off, the flames create the perfect ambience for relaxing summer evenings—without warming the room.

Sometimes it’s not about the heat. It’s about creating a space you love coming home to.

“I’m just afraid it won’t look the way I’m imagining.”

It’s one of the most common things we hear in our showroom.

Choosing a fireplace isn’t simply about selecting a stove or fire. It’s about creating a feature you’ll look at every day for years to come.

That’s why we sketch your fireplace before installation.

Using your inspiration photos, room measurements and ideas, we create a visual concept so you can see how everything works together before any building work begins.

It gives you confidence to move forward, helps prevent costly changes during installation, and ensures everyone is working towards the same vision.

Whether you’re renovating an existing fireplace, building a media wall or planning a new build, seeing your design on paper first can make all the difference.

✨ Save this post if you’re planning a renovation.

📩 Send us your inspiration photos, measurements and room pictures, then book a showroom consultation to start designing your perfect fireplace.

Some projects remind us that the smallest details make the biggest difference.

This stunning Bellfire View Bell 3 Vertical gas fire is framed with custom Dekton Lucid cladding, creating a clean, contemporary feature that’s beautiful whether the fire is on or off.

Every element was carefully considered because a fireplace should feel like it was always meant to be part of your home.

It’s why we spend so much time helping our clients choose the right fire, the right materials and the right finish.

If you’re planning a new build or renovating, don’t leave your fireplace until the last minute. The earlier it’s designed, the better the final result.

What do you think of this transformation? ✨
