A throwback to one of the most special projects in the Arlene McIntyre Design story, the refurbishment of the magnificent Luttrellstown Castle, whose history stretches back almost 600 years.
We were privileged to provide our full interior architecture and interior design service, with our work developing over a number of phases, beginning with the Castle bedrooms.
At the time, the Castle had 12 bedrooms, with a further eight subsequently reinstated and refurbished, bringing it to 20 individually designed bedrooms in total. Working within a property with such extraordinary history was a real privilege, and our approach throughout was about respecting its heritage and character while introducing a new layer of luxury, comfort and individuality.
We also had the pleasure of discussing the refurbishment with Kevin Kelly, the great Irish publisher who founded the interiors magazine that became The World of Interiors, together with Luttrellstown Castle Resort’s former General Manager, Ivan Gaine.
Our relationship with Luttrellstown has continued over the years, most recently providing our interior architecture and design service for the refurbishment of the beautiful five-bedroom Gardener’s Cottage, set within the grounds of the Rose Garden, along with the beauty salon.
Having worked across so many different areas of the estate, we have developed a very special understanding of Luttrellstown — its architecture, its history and the importance of preserving its extraordinary character while allowing it to evolve for contemporary life.
We have absolutely loved being part of the Luttrellstown story over the years.
Luttrellstown Castle. Honouring almost 600 years of history while beautifully evolving for its next chapter.
