When every little book nook counts!

Nothing good goes to waste around here.
The cheerful vintage red and cream stripe is what was left from the headboard cover, so I turned it into a double-sided scalloped valance with green ticking on the reverse. I enjoy repeating fabrics around a room. It gives a sense of cohesion, it’s playful without everything becoming too matching.
The green room is slowly coming together. Roman blind up next!

When renovation chaos is testing your patience, a small creative project can be the perfect dopamine boost. This headboard started as a vintage folding screen, and those bold red stripes were too good not to give a second life. Every room needs a little patternand a little personality.

From boring to beautiful!
A Sunday well spent transforming this plain lampshade into a romantic, vintage-inspired gathered cover using nothing more than leftover fabric and a few trimmings.
One of the reasons I love this style is that it’s so forgiving. The gathers soften everything, little mistakes disappear, and any imperfections simply become part of the charm. It’s the perfect beginner sewing project and a lovely way to give something old a completely new look.
I’m always looking for ways to create a beautiful home without spending a fortune, and projects like this are proof that a little fabric can go a long way.
Would you try a gathered lampshade cover, or do you prefer a more tailored look? Let me know below 🤍

Before and After, hall staircase reveal. What do you think? I’m live it! The stairs in this little period house have had a paint makeover. The old carpet was taken off and the wood was sanded to prepare for painting. The stairs are so sweet, handmade by a local craftsman in 1935, though they are quite steep! There are a few more stages for styling this hallway but for now a lick of dark green on the wood and a vintage print gallery wall will get it started. Eventually there will be a runner and next week a colour drench of “Sulking Room Pink” is going on the walls. I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments and if you would like to know what specific shade of dark green this is just ask!

This country utility/bootroom upgrade is such a good example of how useful spaces don’t need to feel clinical. It’s pretty too and full to the brim with vintage pieces. See the full upgrade over
I love seeing how customers bring finds into their homes and make them their own. Watching the objects I have collected become part of a their styling story is a wonderful feeling. Thank you for tagging me Aran It’s always lovely to share with fellow collectors and antique lovers.

Adding a pop of yellow to a room can make you happier. It’s hard to be sad when it’s sunny inside. Facts!
Don’t be fooled by this serene vignette, the reality of my weekend was plaster and dust. The house rewire continues. I hope you had a nice relaxing bank holiday free of dust and hassle.

Antique storage Dublin 9
Why would you waste your money on something new when you could buy something a lovely as this.?
My Friday Find is a stunning 18thc oak coffer. Built to last this piece would make that perfect characterful piece for your interior. It has the most beautiful aged patina and is a versatile practical piece of furniture. Use it as a bench, a window seat, for toys or blankets. I have a similar one, that I treasure, I use it for storing old wire and equipment and as a TV stand which helps make all that look a bit less ugly.
I am busy in this thick of a renovation but I am local in D9 if anyone wants to have a look by appointment. Send me a dm and I will get back to you. Or beat the queue and buy it now online, collect it later or arrange for delivery quote.

I am still dreaming of my Easter visit to the home of Helen and Jim Ede. It is my ultimate spring interior obsession. The space is a masterclass in styling, it’s a perfectly harmonious blend of art, antiques, and curated objects that feels both tranquil and incredibly exciting. Love it so much. If you’re in Cambridge and you love Art and Interiors you should definitely pop in.

I hope you had a lovely break. I certainly did with an inspiring Easter trip away to Cambridgeshire. I have so many pics I may as well make some reels. This one is mainly Cambridge, which was mobbed on Easter Monday. I have never seen it so bus!
Some of the museums which are not usually open on Mondays were open for that holiday to facilitate the visitors, which was fantastic! I still have yet to go punting though do I will have to come back. 🐣
