Colour doing all the work here.

Spectrum Senja by Jan Kath feels much closer to an abstract artwork than a traditional rug. The colour moves across the surface without relying on a conventional pattern, which is exactly what makes it work so well in a contemporary space.

The Night at RKD's Dublin office does what a good abstract should: it gives the eye somewhere to land in a hard, glass-walled room. Those reds and blacks read like weathered paint against pale timber, holding their own beside velvet chairs and a matt black table. See it at full scale in Sandyford before you commit to colour on paper.

The Jan Kath Adja from Concept lives in flat colour fields—deep petrol blue against forest green, sliced by a single silk red stripe. Daylight shifts how it reads: saturated at midday, quieter as evening comes in, the pile catching each change across the surface. This one asks to be seen in person, under real light. Look closely at the medallion in the Mamluk Elswick and it seems to be fading before you, as though a centuries-old pattern had been left in the sun too long. That's the idea behind Jan Kath's Erased Heritage collection: classical motifs rendered as if time had already worked on them, in warm rust, ochre and cream across a hand-knotted ground. RugArt is the only place in Ireland to see it in person, in our Sandyford showroom.
