A 1940’s “Wilett’s of Kentucky” Cherry chest of drawers.
I really liked the aesthetic concept of this particular piece of furniture.
It is as if the drawers are “framed” within a picture. It is really heavy piece, and the cherry wood is quite dark in lustre. A beautiful piece.

A 1950’s Chest of Drawers needing full restoration.
Many small pieces of veneer were missing.

The skeleton support structure, required two new internal sliders. Additionally the lower base required a support piece to maintain the rather weak base and relatively light frame.

I’m reticent to venture an opinion on the veneer type. It’s most certainly not mahogany.
It could be walnut …

This is an exceptionally well made “Elm”occasional chair.
Its origins emanate from the “Arts and Crafts” Period, 1910 - 1920.
Cannot emphasise how structurally sound this piece is. I really love it.
All it needs is a good waxing, probably clear or vintage bison wax.

Another 1920’s - 1930’s Art Deco sideboard to work on. Yes, it needs some filling and minor veneer repair; but I’ve seen a lot worse …..
It is the quintessential “Art Deco” piece.

Typically quite cumbersome; with an air of the “Arts & Crafts” period.

It is off course made of Oak.
Believe me; it is extremely heavy. Usually a really good sign, as it is a sign of a “dense” wood - where the grain is tightly knitted; hence the weight and consequently the quality.

You may remember the 1940’s Art Deco Walnut Sideboard; I was working on before Christmas 2025’ - well i finally finished it ….

I was very lucky with this piece, as there were no cabinet making repairs necessary. Two minor veneer issues, I was able to do myself.

But, hey - I really loved this one. It’s got such presence. The elegant proportions.
The beauty of the design either side of the doors is exceptional - the handles are most unique, a combination of chrome & onyx.
Off course, the walnut grain is what it’s all about.

So, I’m finally at the finishing stage of this exquisite piece. Only a handful of minor veneer repairs.The colour patter...

The colour pattern is exceptional.

Now this is an interesting piece.
A French Napoleon III Marquetry, fold over card table.
It is truly exquisite.
The table is veneered in various exotic woods, including, Rosewood, Maple, Mahogany and boxwood.
It features gilt bronze mounts and decorative brass trim.

Started replacing missing veneer and have decided to limit restoration to a gentle sanding.

a mix of warm water, linseed oil, methylated spirits, a small amount of vinegar.
A simple deep clean is in order.

So, I’ve had little to do on this “Elliott’s of Newbury, Mid-Century 1960’s writing bureau.
Simply applied raw linseed oil with light wire wool and wiped it down well, with a Lint free cotton cloth.
As one would expect, it’s made of a superb “teak” hardwood. Simple fine lines.
The handles are very attractive.
