Doni Doni Ireland

Doni Doni Ireland Unique, ethical, handmade crafts from Mali & West Africa. Specialising in traditional Bogolan mud cloth designs and Tuareg silver jewellery.

Doni Doni Ireland sells unique, high quality, handmade crafts from Mali and West Africa in Dublin, Ireland. We specialise in Bogolan mud cloth, a traditional Malian cloth made from handwowen cotton and dyed using natural pigments from mud, leaves and bark. We also sell silver jewellery and beautiful leather boxes made by the nomadic Tuareg ethnic group based in the Sahara desert. We aim to support

local, skilled artists and craftspeople in Mali whose livelihoods have been adversely affected by political unrest in recent years. The Bogolan mud cloth we sell is made by some of the best artists in Segou, Mali. It is handwoven on traditional looms and . Traditionally the cloth was worn by hunters and is decorated with motifs and symbols with various cultural and historical significance. The artists we work with use the traditional bogolan-making techniques to create stunning contemporary designs, including scarves, cushion covers, wall hangings and throws. WHY BUY FROM DONI DONI? All of our Bogolan products are sustainably made using natural dyes derived from leaves, earth and bark. The Bogolan studios in Segou employ a number of local, skilled artists. By purchasing these products you are directly supporting artists and craftspeople whose livelihoods have been jeopardised by political unrest. The majority of profits go back into buying more produce, generating more employment for local artists who would otherwise be out of work.
