Something I think every artist should know about.
Getting good photographs of your paintings is surprisingly difficult. Colour, texture, detail and scale can all get lost — and if you want to make prints, a DIY photograph simply isn't good enough.
I've recently been working with Iain at Pigment in Castlebar and it's brilliant to see this kind of specialist art scanning and reproduction available here in Ireland, and particularly in the West, for artists like me.
It's not just about making a nice image for Instagram. It's about properly recording your work, creating an archive, preparing for exhibitions and catalogues, and being able to reproduce your paintings to a professional standard.
If you're an Irish artist, I'd recommend following Pigment and having a look at what Iain does.
