Since settling in Ireland in December 2021, Juliane Gorman has been fascinated by the potential of Ireland's underused wool and has been experimenting with ways to incorporate it into her felted hats. Drawn to sustainable, locally sourced materials, she finds inspiration in the connection between land and sea, combining wool from Ireland's landscapes with cyanotype prints made from seaweed gathered along its shores. This marriage of natural materials, place, sustainability, and process has opened new directions in her work.

These garments were commissioned by who is the Artist in Residence with Galway Wool Co-op since 2023. She has spent nearly three years researching the best way to handle the Galway wool and discovered that worsted spinning is one of the best ways to handle strong Irish wool. The Galway yarn used to create these garments was as a result of a small pilot scheme which was funded by private investors in early 2025.

1. The Gilet was designed and crocheted with worsted Galway DK by .
