The slip-trailed decoration featured on Castle Arch Pottery’s Heritage collection draws deep inspiration from the iconic prehistoric artwork of Ireland’s ancient landscape. Specifically, the flowing, continuous lines of the slip replicate the famous triple spiral (or triskele) engravings carved into the entrance stone and inner chambers of Newgrange. By using a traditional trailing technique to apply the liquid clay, we are able to capture the fluid, undulating energy of these Neolithic stone carvings. This fluid decoration mirrors the ancient symbols of growth, timelessness, and the journey of life, translating thousands of years of Irish heritage into functional, modern stoneware.
