We asked Mashy an impossible question. 🌿

Three flowers. For the rest of your life. No seasons, no exceptions.

She resisted. She negotiated. She almost got away with adding a fourth.

And then she landed.

Matricaria first. Wild, daisy-like, free. Everything fantastic about a flower that does not try too hard.

Hydrangea second. Versatile, generous, every colour you could want. The flower that makes everything around it better.

And then, with a slight apology, roses. The scented ones, the spray roses, the ones that fill a room before you even see them.

She called it boring. We strongly disagree.

Those three flowers together would make a bouquet that could stop anyone in their tracks. And if you surrounded them with whatever the season had to offer, you would never need anything else. 🌸

A warm sunny day is a dream for a garden wedding. 🌿

For the florist, it is a beautiful challenge.

Everything has to be timed perfectly. On a hot day, you cannot set up too early. The flowers need to be as fresh as possible for the moment that actually matters, when the bride walks down the aisle.

So we work backwards from that moment. Last minute checks, a fine spray of water, every stem perfectly conditioned and placed as close to the ceremony as we can manage.

Nobody in that garden sees the timing behind it. They just see something breathtaking. 🌸

That is exactly how it should be.

One week on and the post-festival blues are very real. 🌿

Every year, Kilkenny Arts Festival reminds us why we love this city so much. The energy, the creativity, the people. And every year when it ends, the quiet that follows takes a little getting used to.

We are so grateful to have been part of it again this year. Providing the flowers for the festival is one of the most meaningful things we get to do. We have been supporting Kilkenny Arts Festival for many years now and it never gets old. Being woven into the fabric of this community, year after year, is something we do not take for granted for a single moment.

One moment from this year that stayed with us long after the closing night. Mary Robinson, Ireland's first female president, took to the stage and spoke about sustainability and about something she called local, local, local. Everything we consume, everything we support, everything we purchase, nourished within our own communities. That is how we keep those communities alive.

After thirty years in Kilkenny, we felt that in our bones. 🌸

The orchid is one of the most generous flowers you can bring into your home. 🌿

A little flower food, just a sprinkle. Fresh water every four days. A small trim of the stem each time. Clean vase, clean water, another sprinkle.

That is genuinely all it takes.

And in return? Weeks of bloom. The orchid does not ask for much and it gives back more than almost any other cut flower you will find.

That staying power is something special. And once you know how easy it is to maintain, you will never look at an orchid the same way again. 🌸

He worked a full week for this. 🌿

1992. A student placement at Mobach, a ceramicist company whose work Lamber had already fallen in love with. At the end of the week, his employer offered him a choice. Payment, or something from the collection.

He had already decided.

It was more expensive than it should have been for a student to ask for. He talked very nicely to his employer. He came home with this.

Not a vase. A vessel. A railway sleeper in ceramic, weighted like something that has always belonged exactly where it sits.

It can hold tall grasses standing straight. Or you can tilt it on its side, half full of water, and let everything cascade downward. The water stays at the base. The flowers fall like they chose to.

This is what Lamber means when he talks about a collection. Not objects that hold flowers. Objects that hold stories. That sit on a counter and say something about the person who chose them, even on the days they hold nothing at all.

Some things you carry from one chapter of your life to the next. This is one of them. 🌸

A good starting point for wedding flowers is 10% of your total budget. 🌿

Not a rule. A guide. Something to work with while you are still figuring out what matters most to you.

Some couples come to us and say flowers are everything. They go beyond 10% and never look back.

Others come in and say they are flying in a saxophone player from Cuba and that is where the money is going.

And honestly? Both are completely valid. It is your day. It is your wedding. Nobody gets to tell you what should matter most.

But if you are at the beginning of planning and you need a number to work from, 10% is realistic, reasonable and a genuinely good place to start. 🌸

The most on-trend thing you can put in your home right now has nothing to do with a candle. 🌿

Look at what is happening in interiors. Rich fabrics, velvet cushions, deeply decorated curtains, tassels, trimmings. The return of colour that means something. Deep, saturated, unapologetic.

And the flowers that belong in that world? Deepest burgundy, almost as dark as a pint of Guinness. The richest purple beside a big, bold green leaf. Cymbidium orchids coming back after years away. Anthuriums. Grasses. Hydrangeas. Not mixed together in a busy bouquet but paired deliberately, two or three varieties at most, minimum greenery, maximum presence.

Here is the tip worth keeping. Next time you go to your florist, do not ask for a mixed bouquet. Point at the most beautiful stem in the shop and ask for five of them. Or ten. One flower, one statement, one vase.

That is the contemporary move. That is what the best interiors are doing right now. 🌸

Instead of chemicals, they release ladybirds. 🌿

Into the glasshouse, deliberately, in numbers. Because ladybirds eat the insects that damage flowers. And where a grower once reached for a chemical spray, they now reach for nature itself.

This is what is quietly happening across the flower growing industry. Less chemicals, more biological solutions. Growers who have spent decades refining how little they need to intervene, and how intelligently they can do it when they must.

Lamber has felt the difference personally. Years ago, a rose thorn meant a red spot, inflammation, a reaction to the residue on the stem. Now, nothing. The change is real and it is measurable.

He represents Ireland on Florint, the international florist association, and joins a global Zoom every month where this is one of the most important conversations happening right now. The industry is not perfect. But it is moving, genuinely and consistently, in the right direction.

And in this studio, Mashy leads the recycling. Lamber is right behind her. 🌸

Holland is a tiny country with an awful lot of people in it. 🌿

Fifteen million, in a space the size of Ireland. Packed. Every centimetre used, every system refined, every resource considered. And because of that, they became the best in the world at what they do.

Growing flowers at scale, with the least possible environmental impact, in the most efficient way imaginable. When you need hundreds of the same stem, the same size, the same look, for one great event, Holland is where that comes from. Nobody does it better.

Lamber knows this because Holland is home. He goes back to visit family and flower growers every year. And every time, he steps off the plane in Ireland and exhales.

Because Ireland has something Holland cannot manufacture. Space. Quiet. People who stop and talk to you.

As someone once said, Holland is a beautiful city with bits of green in between.

Ireland is the other way around entirely. And that is exactly why he stayed. 🌸
