Today is day, a initiative to support Irish craft and design.

For a small nation we have an amazing heritage in the creation of words, craft and music - the creation of beauty. What you surround yourself with is important; how things are made carries through. Made local is a lovely opportunity to recognise the talent of makers and designers in Ireland and to encourage all of us to look at this amazing group of businesses when we are looking for gifts, for our home, for that something special.

As a product-based business I know it can be hard to stand out compared with larger commerical sites, next-day shipping and the commodified world of fast fashion - fast everything - around us. It is always a lure - for all of us.

What is great about the Made Local campaign is the choice to support Made Local is not framed as a competition. It is a simple acknowledgement and recognition that when you buy a Made Local product not only are you supporting an Irish business and an Irish maker, you are investing in a piece that's truly unique and beautifully crafted.

Something that adds something to your home; to your life. A story entwined with your story.

Wizard & Grace is really proud to be involved with the Made Local campaign.

A little blast from the past and introduction to the origins of Wizard & Grace for all our new followers who I met at the amazing last weekend.

One of the questions I understandably get asked a lot is where the name Wizard & Grace came from. I usually get a lot of aws and soft smiles when I tell people the origin - Wizard is my senior dog, a retired guide dog who I came to be owned by (definitely not vice versa!) while working as Communications Manager with . Grace is my little one's middle name.

Watching the unconscious loving bond form and develop between a girl and her big dog is a daily reminder of the importance of nature in our lives and the inspiration behind Wizard & Grace.

Before being the name that lit a thousand candles Wizard was a big hit on the PR scene pictured here front and centre with and the great crew of Irish Guide Dogs friends and colleagues at the launch of guide dog day. I think around 2015. Thanks for the beautiful memory.

I do also like the suggestion though that we are named after comedy Will & Grace.. I am fond of a good Karenism!

Thank you to all who stopped by the Wizard & Grace stand at this weekend. It was so lovely to meet existing and new customers - it was such a gorgeous and well run event.

Great to have my sister there too with her art stand . Though as the last photo shows once a baby sister = always a slave. Thanks .art for capturing this.. eh...sweet shoe tying moment😂.

Now for a few hours of break before final prep begins!

I apologised this morning. To a woman who offered me help which I didn't need (probably did in hindsight!).

Why did I apologise? For existing? For the crime of entering a shopping centre and her having to offer me help? This is not an isolated incident. Last week I apologised to my bin for bumping into it. 🤣

Is it an Irish woman thing? Or a general woman thing?

Why do we do this? It’s like a default setting we never asked for. We apologise for taking up space, for having an opinion, or heaven forbid, for just existing in a room.

And, importantly, how do we stop?

I know this post is more questions than content. Sorry about that.

But I would however love to know the most "unnecessary" thing you've apologised for lately? I know I'm far from alone in this!

If baths on Sunday evening still remind you of Glenroe and school dread we have something to switch that up.

Spa at home. Enchantment unboxed.

Essential oils of frankincense, ginger and rose geranium. Dark, warm, luxurious.

Where in the world would you rather be?
