Remembering Michael Collins — 22 August

Tomorrow, 22 August, marks the anniversary of the death of Michael Collins, one of the most fascinating and influential figures in Irish history.

Known as The Big Fella, Collins played a pivotal role in Ireland’s struggle for independence — a revolutionary, politician and statesman whose life was cut tragically short at just 31 years of age.

I created these portraits as my own artistic tribute to a man whose story continues to captivate generations of Irish people. 🇮🇪

His legacy, his determination and the events surrounding his final journey remain deeply woven into Ireland’s history.

22 August 1922 — remembered, not forgotten.

Tom Crean — The Irish Explorer 🇮🇪

Some portraits are more than just a drawing.
I wanted to capture the determination, resilience and quiet strength of Tom Crean, one of Ireland's greatest explorers.

Born in County Kerry, Crean became a legendary Antarctic explorer, taking part in three major expeditions and surviving some of the most extreme conditions imaginable.

His story is one of courage, endurance and incredible human spirit.

This is my Tom Crean pencil portrait, drawn in graphite with a focus on the character and strength in his face.

For me, drawing people like Tom Crean is about keeping their stories alive and bringing a piece of Irish history into the home.
