Connemara Willow

Connemara Willow I am based in the west of Ireland in Connemara, Co. Galway, where I'm growing my willow on our farm to create and weave the most beautiful baskets.

I'm always learning new baskets skills, so come join my journey.

Introducing the Roundstone Shopper 🌿

A new piece in my willow collection, inspired by the beautiful village of Roundstone in Connemara — the place where I held my very first market, and somewhere I’ll be returning to again this summer.

Each basket is handwoven from willow that I grow and harvest from my own land, creating a practical everyday shopper rooted in slow craft and inspired by the western landscape.

Available soon on my website and at summer markets.
DM to pre-order.

Here is an update of my own living play hut I have for the kids, decided to give it a little bit of a tidy up, the top is getting quite hairy, so I just weave them in and out for a new growth be intertwined with last years. Also planted some sweet pea to climb up along the side.

Still buzzing after such a brilliant weekend with the Irish Basket Association (Irish Basketmakers Association)in Moate ( )Dun na SĆ Heritage Park.

I finally made it to the AGM this year after being a member for many years, and it was so lovely to meet other makers, see everyone’s work, swap stories, and spend time with people who are just as passionate about traditional craft.

I took Helen’s lobster pot workshop () and honestly it was one of the most enjoyable and inspiring courses I’ve ever done. I loved hearing about the history and tradition behind the pots and learning the techniques step by step from someone so knowledgeable and generous with her research.

There’s something really special about making an object that connects so strongly to heritage, landscape, and practical use. And I’m absolutely delighted with my finished lobster pot — now I just need to get it down to the shore and try it out!

Weekends like this remind me why traditional crafts matter so much. Keeping these skills alive, sharing knowledge, and building community around them is incredibly important.

Already looking forward to the next gathering!

Introducing the ā€œGurteen Donkey Creelā€ Basket 🌿

Named after one of the 1st places I fell in love with in Connemara — Gurteen, with its turquoise waters and long sandy beach. It’s somewhere I still return to, often gathering seaweed along the shore with my own creel.

Each basket is handwoven from willow that I grow and harvest from my own land, rooted in tradition.

Available on my website next month, and at markets throughout the summer.
DM to pre-order.

Feeling very grateful to have had the opportunity to create this woven willow fence at šŸŒæšŸ°

A big thank you for trusting me with your garden — it’s been a real pleasure to transform the space, replacing the old blight-ridden box hedge with something more natural and in keeping with its surroundings.

Every project like this is a privilege, and I’m so pleased with how beautifully it’s settled into the garden.

What an incredible skills week to wake me up from the winter, sharing skills and crafts and laughing all day and every day.
Been around such an inspiration, unlike minded people is the best thing for the soul.
Until we meet again, girls!

Apparently I harvest willow now 🌿
One very long week later, sorting begins šŸ˜–.
Be honest — do you love harvest season or survive it?ā€
