I wouldn’t say I was awestruck… but I absolutely was.
Yesterday I had the privilege of visiting Leinster House on Thurs last for lunch and a tour of the house, the Dáil and the Seanad.
As a designer, I was fascinated by the details. The layers of history, the formal rooms, the working spaces, the sense of ceremony, and the feeling that if those walls could talk, you’d want to sit down and listen.
The Dáil was sitting while we were there, with a debate underway on an issue currently in the news, which made the whole experience feel even more real. Not just a historic building, but a living, working one.
It reminded me that interiors are never just about how a space looks. They shape behaviour, hold memory, support purpose, and tell a story long before anyone says a word.
A lovely, thought-provoking day, and definitely one I’ll remember.
