Choosing tiles for .ie 🤍

Kate and I called into Tile Warehouse yesterday to see Louise and Cathy and pick our tile for the salon. So many fabulous options to choose from, but after exploring their extensive range, we’ve found the one!

There are still a few finishing touches to come, with cushions and accessories yet to be added, but she’s already looking pretty beautiful.

Meet the team behind JMC Studios.

Led by James McNamara, Creative Director, JMC Studios brings a considered interior architectural approach from concept to completion.

Rachel, our Technical Design Lead, oversees detailed drawing packages, translating each design into precise, build-ready documentation and ensuring every detail is carefully resolved.

Aine, our Design & Operations Coordinator, manages procurement, scheduling and day-to-day client communications, helping to keep each project moving seamlessly behind the scenes.

Together, we bring the creative, technical and operational sides of the studio together to deliver thoughtfully considered interiors from the first idea through to completion.

Kate and I were on site this week checking in on the works as the space continues to take shape. Lots happening behind the scenes, and it’s so exciting to start seeing the design come to life.

I had such a lovely conversation with Marie Sobral about my journey into interior design, from growing up in Achill and starting JMC Studios, to opening our studio in Westport and creating homes that feel personal to the people who live in them.

A little progress update from our Sligo Townhouse Project.

We’re right in the middle of the construction phase, with the new layouts beginning to properly take shape. Stud walls are in, first-fix plumbing and electrical works are progressing, and spaces like the laundry room, primary suite and bathrooms are finally starting to read as the rooms we designed on paper.

It’s not quite the glamorous part of a renovation yet, but it’s one of the most important. Every detail happening behind the walls now sets the foundation for everything that comes next.

Next up: plastering, flooring, joinery and the beginning of all those finishes that will completely transform this house.

Looking back at last weekend’s feature in the Irish Examiner , I wanted to take a moment to highlight such a special project.

Our NOVAS Recovery House project was featured with the headline “Projects like this show why thoughtful design matters.”

Working alongside NOVAS and DFS , the aim was to transform the living room into a space that felt warm, welcoming and, most importantly, like home for the women using the Recovery House.

The project was made possible by an incredibly generous group of people, artists and businesses who donated their time, products and expertise, and it was lovely to see so many of those contributions recognised within the feature.

A huge thank you to everyone involved, to Eve Kelliher and the Irish Examiner for telling the story behind the space so beautifully, and especially to Niamh O’Carroll Niamh O'Carroll for bringing everything together and giving us the opportunity to be part of it.

Being involved in projects like this, where design can have a wider social impact, is always such a privilege and something I’m very grateful to be able to contribute to. 🤍

AD Every space has the power to make us feel something.

We were honoured to collaborate with and to transform the living room at NOVAS’ Recovery House in Limerick into a space that feels warm, welcoming and supportive.

Thoughtful design goes beyond aesthetics. It’s about creating environments where people feel comfortable, at ease and truly at home.

The Joules Gilmorton sofa and Kian chairs, both from DFS, are the perfect centrepiece for the space.

A huge thank you to everyone who generously donated their time, expertise and products to help bring this project to life. We were delighted to work with artists Carol Ahern and Caroline Duffy. Thanks also to Kukoon Rugs, Farrelly and Co and the fantastic team at Novas. Together, we’ve created a space that we hope will make a positive difference to every woman who walks through the door. 🤍

This room started life as a spare bedroom.

Today, it’s the primary ensuite.

The transformation wasn’t just about finishes—it was about completely rethinking how this part of the home should function.

By introducing new archways, closing redundant doorways and carefully planning every sightline, we created a seamless connection between the bedroom, dressing room and ensuite.

The result is a space that feels as though it has always belonged.
