Early tomorrow morning brings a Full Moon in Pisces, alongside a partial lunar eclipse. 🌕✨
Pisces energy is often connected with intuition, emotion, imagination and compassion.
Full Moons can already feel reflective, and eclipse energy is often treated as a time to slow down rather than adding pressure to perform a perfect ritual.
You might notice emotions sitting a little closer to the surface, or find yourself thinking about something you’re ready to understand, forgive or finally put down.
Instead of trying to force a big release, you could gently ask:
🌊 What have I been carrying that isn’t mine to hold?
🤍 Where do I need more compassion for myself?
✨ What’s becoming clearer now?
🌿 Where would stronger boundaries help me feel safer?
🌙 What am I ready to stop chasing?
There’s no need to stay awake, charge every crystal you own or make a life-changing decision before breakfast.
Your Full Moon practice could be as simple as:
✨ writing down what’s been on your mind
✨ having an early night
✨ placing a glass of water beside your journal
✨ taking a calming shower or bath
✨ allowing yourself to feel without needing to fix everything immediately
The eclipse will be visible from Ireland during the early hours, weather permitting, with its greatest phase shortly after 5:00 am.
If you’re awake to see it, take a quiet moment to look up. If you’re fast asleep, that’s perfectly fine too. The Moon won’t take it personally. 😄
Let this be a gentle reminder that releasing something doesn’t always happen in one dramatic moment.
Sometimes we loosen our grip little by little, until we realise we’re ready to set it down.
What are you ready to meet with a little more softness?

Black salt might sound mysterious, but it’s actually a simple ritual blend often used in modern witchcraft for protection, cleansing and setting boundaries. 🖤

This isn’t cooking salt. Ritual black salt is not edible, so always keep it clearly labelled and separate from anything in your kitchen.

What you’ll need

🧂 Salt
🖤 A small amount of finely powdered charcoal
🥣 A bowl and spoon
🏷️ A labelled jar or container

Use activated charcoal powder or clean natural charcoal that’s free from added chemicals. Avoid barbecue briquettes or anything containing lighter fluid, binders or unknown additives.

I prefer charcoal rather than incense ash. It gives the blend its colour without needing to save or handle burned incense remains.

Add something extra

You can keep it simple or add one or two ingredients that suit your intention:

🥚 Dried crushed eggshells — protection and strong boundaries
🌿 Rosemary — cleansing and protection
🌶️ Black pepper — strength and warding
🌸 Cloves — protection and confidence
🍃 Bay leaf — intention and personal strength

I add crushed eggshells to mine because I love their symbolism of protection and creating a safe boundary.

Making your black salt

Add your salt to a bowl and slowly mix in a small amount of charcoal. A little goes a long way — unless you fancy turning yourself and the kitchen counter black too. 😄

If adding eggshells or herbs, make sure they’re completely dry and finely crushed.

As you mix, focus on your intention. You might say:

“My boundaries are strong. My space is protected, and only what supports me is welcome here.”

Transfer it to a clearly labelled jar.

Ways to use it

✨ Near your front door
✨ On a protection altar
✨ In a sealed spell jar
✨ Beside a written intention
✨ As a symbolic ritual boundary
✨ In a protection bowl

A few reminders

🖤 Don’t eat it or apply it to your skin
🖤 Avoid breathing in fine charcoal powder
🖤 Keep away from children and pets
🖤 Don’t scatter it outdoors — salt can damage plants and soil

You can make your own at home, or Violet Moon black salt is available ready-made in the shop.

Would you make your own, or prefer it ready-made?

An oil burner is a lovely way to add fragrance and atmosphere to a room, but it’s important to use it correctly. 🕯️
Before you begin, check what your burner is designed for.
Some burners can be used with fragrance oils and water. Others are suitable for wax melts. The two methods aren’t the same, so always follow the instructions that come with your burner and fragrance product.
Using fragrance oil
If your burner is suitable for oil:
💧 add water to the bowl
✨ add only a small amount of fragrance oil
🕯️ place the correct-sized tealight underneath
👀 keep an eye on the water level
Never allow the bowl to boil completely dry while the candle is still burning.
Using wax melts
If your burner is suitable for wax:
✨ place a small amount of wax in the clean, dry bowl
✨ don’t add water
✨ use the correct-sized tealight
✨ avoid overfilling the dish
Again, check the individual instructions, as not every burner is suitable for every type of fragrance product.
A few important safety reminders
🔥 place the burner on a stable, heat-resistant surface
🔥 keep it away from curtains, shelves and anything flammable
🔥 don’t move it while it’s hot
🔥 keep it away from children and pets
🔥 never leave the tealight unattended
🔥 allow everything to cool fully before cleaning
A little burner can completely change the feeling of a room, whether you prefer something calming, fresh, floral, woody or warm and cosy.
Violet Moon has a selection of oil burners that are lovely for your own home or as a thoughtful spiritual gift.
You can browse the current range or send me a message if you’d like help choosing one.

What kind of fragrance do you enjoy most at home — fresh, floral, sweet or woody?

Virgo Season is here, bringing a shift towards more practical, grounded energy. ♍🌿
After the boldness and fire of Leo Season, Virgo invites us to look at the small things that support everyday life.
Not in a “completely reorganise your entire home by lunchtime” kind of way.
More in a:
✨ clear one small surface
✨ write down what’s been circling in your head
✨ return to a routine that genuinely helps
✨ finish one task before starting five more
✨ check in with what your body and mind need
✨ make your spiritual practice easier to maintain
Virgo energy is often connected with organisation, care, discernment and being of practical service.
But this season doesn’t need to become another reason to chase perfection.
A routine is only helpful if it works for your actual life.
An altar doesn’t need to be spotless to be meaningful.
A spiritual practice doesn’t need to happen at the same time every day to count.
Sometimes practical magic is simply making life a little calmer for your future self.

Try asking:
“What’s one small thing I could do today that would make tomorrow feel easier?”
That might be your Virgo Season ritual. 🤍

Earlier this month, we explored Moss Agate as a crystal connected with patience, grounding and steady growth.
But sometimes, even when we’re nurturing something carefully, we need a little encouragement to actually take the next step.
That’s where Carnelian comes in. ✨
Moss Agate
Moss Agate is often connected with:
🌿 patience
🌿 steady growth
🌿 grounding
🌿 new beginnings
🌿 trusting slow progress
It can be a lovely reminder that not everything needs to happen straight away. Some things need time, care and consistency before we begin to see the results.
Carnelian
Carnelian is often associated with:
🔥 motivation
🔥 confidence
🔥 creativity
🔥 courage
🔥 taking action
It can offer a little nudge when you know what you want to do but you’re struggling to get started.
Together, Moss Agate and Carnelian can represent a lovely balance:
Be patient with your growth, but don’t be afraid to move forward.
You could work with this pairing when you’re:
✨ beginning a new project
✨ trying to build a consistent habit
✨ growing a creative idea or business
✨ feeling impatient with your progress
✨ needing the confidence to take your next step
Try placing the crystals beside your journal or planner while choosing one small action you can take.
Nothing huge. Nothing overwhelming.
Just one realistic step that keeps things moving.
Crystals don’t guarantee results, but they can become meaningful reminders of the qualities you want to bring into your day.

Do you need more patience or motivation at the moment — or perhaps a little of both?

Dressing a candle is a simple way to turn an ordinary candle into something that feels personal and connected with your intention. 🕯️
You don’t need lots of oils, herbs or complicated steps. A little goes a very long way.
Start with your intention
Choose one clear purpose for the candle.
It might be:
🤍 calm
💚 prosperity
🖤 protection
🩷 self-love
💜 clarity
✨ gratitude
Try to keep it simple. One candle doesn’t need to solve every problem in your life before teatime. 😄
Choose a candle
You can select a colour traditionally connected with your intention, or simply use white if that’s what you already have.
The meaning you give the candle matters more than finding the “perfect” shade.
Anoint it lightly
Use a tiny amount of oil that’s suitable for candle use.
You can gently rub it onto the candle while focusing on your intention. There’s no need to soak the wax or cover the entire candle.
Keep oil away from the wick and follow any safety instructions provided with the product.
Add herbs carefully
Loose dried herbs can catch fire, so don’t pack them around the wick or cover the top of the candle.
A safer option is to place a small amount around the candle holder, well away from the flame, or use them symbolically while setting your intention and remove them before lighting.
You could also place the candle beside a crystal, written intention or small altar item instead.
Light your candle
Place it on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from curtains, draughts, children, pets and anything that could catch fire.
Take a slow breath and repeat your intention in your own words.
It doesn’t need to rhyme. It doesn’t need to sound ancient or mysterious. It only needs to mean something to you.
Never leave a burning candle unattended, and extinguish it safely when you’re finished.

What intention would you dress a candle for?

One of the things I want Violet Moon to be is a place where you can learn, ask questions and explore your own spiritual path without feeling as though you should already know everything.
So today, I’m handing the choice over to you. ✨

Lúnasa is often linked with the Irish god Lugh. A member of the supernatural Tuatha Dé Danann, he is celebrated as a master craftsman, a cunning warrior, and the god of light, but there’s another important person at the heart of the story — his foster-mother, Tailtiu.
In the best-known mythological account, Tailtiu worked to clear a large area of land so it could be used for farming.
The work was said to have exhausted her, and after her death, Lugh held a gathering and funeral games in her memory.
These gatherings became connected with Aonach Tailteann at Teltown in County Meath. They were associated with contests, trading, community gatherings and remembering Tailtiu.
Although Lúnasa carries Lugh’s name, Tailtiu’s story reminds us that every harvest begins with work that often happens long before anyone sees the results.
Her story can still offer us a few gentle reminders today:
🌾 the land needs care before it can provide
🌾 not all hard work is immediately visible
🌾 growth rarely happens alone
🌾 it’s important to remember the people whose work made something possible
Irish mythology has many different versions and layers, so this isn’t presented as one fixed historical account. It’s one of the traditional stories connected with Lúnasa and the Tailteann gathering.
I’ve explored the wider story and meaning of Lúnasa in more detail on the Violet Moon blog if you’d like to continue reading.
Had you heard of Tailtiu before?

15/08/2026

When we think of strength, we often imagine pushing harder, staying in control and never letting anything affect us.
But the Strength card offers a softer kind of power.
It’s the courage to remain kind without abandoning your boundaries.
It’s staying patient with yourself when progress feels slow.
It’s recognising strong emotions without letting them make every decision for you.
And sometimes, it’s admitting that you’re tired and need a break instead of pretending everything is fine.
Strength can remind us that being gentle doesn’t make us weak.
You can be soft and still say no.
You can feel afraid and still take the next step.
You can ask for help and still be capable.
You can rest and still be committed to your path.
When Strength appears in a reading, you might ask:
🦁 Where am I stronger than I realise?
🤍 What situation needs patience rather than force?
✨ How can I respond instead of reacting?
🌿 Where do I need courage and compassion together?
You don’t always need to overpower what’s in front of you.
Sometimes the strongest thing you can do is meet it with patience, self-trust and a steady heart.
What does strength look like for you at the moment?

Incense sticks, ordinary cones and backflow cones might all smell lovely, but they give very different experiences.
Not sure which one to choose? Here’s a quick guide.
Incense sticks
These are a lovely everyday option.
They usually burn gradually and release fragrance over a longer period, making them useful for meditation, journalling, cleansing a space or simply creating a calm atmosphere.
You’ll need a suitable incense holder to catch the ash.
Incense cones
Cones create fragrance without the long stick of ash.
They’re compact, easy to use and often give a stronger burst of scent. Place them on a heat-resistant holder designed for cones.
Backflow incense cones
These are specially designed to work with a backflow burner.
Instead of the smoke rising normally, it flows down through the burner to create a waterfall-style effect. An ordinary incense cone won’t create the same result, so make sure you’re using the correct backflow type.
Whichever style you choose:
🔥 use a suitable heat-resistant holder
🌬️ keep the room gently ventilated
👀 never leave burning incense unattended
🐾 keep it away from children and pets
🤍 be mindful of anyone with breathing or fragrance sensitivities
Violet Moon stocks a selection of incense and burners, so whether you’re looking for something simple for everyday use or a beautiful backflow display, there are plenty of scents and styles to explore.
Have a look through the current selection or send me a message if you’re not sure which type you need.
Are you a stick, cone or backflow incense person?
