Well it's the end of my Indigo growing season. My field is now dormant. The leaves have fallen and the seeds from the flowers have been gathered for next year. To honor the amazing dyeing season I had this summer/fall, I gathered all my indigo dye creations and trials and made a quilt! In the picture below you can see the many variations of techniques I tried. I am basically living my dream in creating my own fabric and quilting it. I am now a textile designer😊👏. Now during the winter I am planning to continue indigo dyeing with various types of dye vats and also practicing different techniques in resist dye. I will pile up the samples, patterns and make another quilt of course. 💙

I would like to share with you what I have been doing the last three weeks in my journey -learning about fresh leaf indigo dyeing and many very basic indigo dyeing techniques I learned in John Marshall's fantastic online workshop. I have been walking in a daze trying to absorb all the enormous amount of knowledge revealed during the workshop. I attached two small trials made after the workshop. I have tons of "homework". For me, living in Israel, it was a fantastic opportunity to enjoy learning without traveling thousands of miles. It is second best as a workshop, but John made his upmost efforts in digital techniques so as to give us a joyful experience. I hope to be able to share future posts with more dyeing experiments I make. Anyone interested in learning about fresh leaf indigo dyeing - I will try to demonstrate different experiments here on facebook and soon in my site being built .

I've been so very busy with my Indigo field this week. I harvested three rows (about 60 plants) that have developed to be very large with a great amount of leaves. ANYWAY....lots of work picking and extracting my indigo paste. In the future I will be able to use the paste for my indigo vat. Instead of buying indigo powder (which I must import), I have my homemade indigo for all the fabric dyeing I want. In the picture I present today's yield. The whole procedure is actually quite exciting! By the way, there are still buckets to filter, so, in the end of this harvest I think I will get to a whole kilogram.😊
