What a beautiful day when you finish a new painting :-)
So here it is- La vie nโ€™est pas toujours en rose.

It is a painting about innocence, the fragility of goodness, and the choice to protect tenderness in a world where violence is never truly absent ( scroll for the details and to better see that almost invisible lineโ€ฆ)

Acrylic on 80x100 cm canvas.

This is Anna. My new painting.
Swipe to see her up close.

I left her body as a drawing, almost transparent, while her dress was meticulously rendered.

We spend so much of our lives perfecting the visible- our appearance, our roles, our achievements, the image we project.

Yet the person beneath those layers, our most authentic part of who we are- often remains unseen:
fragile, complex, and impossible to fully defineโ€ฆ

I approached this painting with reverence.

It is a tribute to my beloved grandmother, Sara. And it is based on an old photograph of her as a young girl - joyful, carefree, and full of life.
The photograph was taken in Harbin, China, where she was born, grew up, married, and gave birth to my mother.

As I studied the photograph, I found myself wondering about that moment frozen in time: the laughter, the movement, the feeling that her whole future still lay ahead of her.
Every brushstroke felt like another conversation with her.

At the bottom of the painting, I wrote in Chinese:

ๆˆ‘ๆƒณไฝ ไบ†

โ€œI miss you.โ€

And in the end, that is what this painting is about.

Longing.
Memory.
Love that outlives time.

For my beloved grandmother, Sara.

I will always miss you โค๏ธ

Welcoming the spirit of the Iranian New Year - Nowruz, celebrated today. A season of renewal, courage, and new beginnings ๐Ÿฆโœจ

A toast to all Iranians around the world, and especially to the brave Iranian women- I wish you a year of freedom, strength, and true self-expression.
May this new year bring you closer to the life you deserve.

It felt fitting to share my new painting today, as it is a piece I revisited to give my saint a completely new face (and a new halo).
And what a difference it made!

It made me think about how powerful change can be. Not just on canvas, but in life.
About the hope of seeing a new face of Iran - one of freedom, dignity, and self-expression.

What do you think?

Happy Womenโ€™s Day! ๐ŸŒŸ

Meet Diane.
My new painting ( acrylic on 120 x 100 cm canvas).

A friend said that the wide skirt and belt reminded her of the iconic style of Diane Keaton - so this one is a small homage to a woman who has always worn freedom, strength, and individuality so beautifully.

The figures I paint are women captured in a quiet moment, yet they carry an inner power.
The halo behind them draws inspiration from the world of saints, but here it represents a secular kind of holiness - inner light, feminine strength, presence.

On this Womenโ€™s Day I wish for all of us
to keep creating, to keep shining,
and to be like the women I paint โ€”
strong, full of light, and true to ourselves.

Right off the easel, hereโ€™s my new painting.
Acrylic on canvas, 120ร—100 cm.

I keep finding myself drawn to that quiet tension between movement and stillnessโ€ฆ to that steady gaze that leaves space for speculation, emotion, and story. Her story. A sacred one.

Sharing a few moments from her making-of along the way.

Iโ€™m delighted to share that Iโ€™ll be participating in the group exhibition โ€œSheโ€, focusing on women and femininity.

I will be presenting three of my works, continuing my exploration of women portrayed with inner strength, quiet power, and a sense of sacred presence ( including this painting here, photos taken on our way to the gallery).

โธป

This is Abigail, my new painting.

From her first stages in my studio to being on the moveโ€”on our way to the gallery, where sheโ€™ll be shown in an upcoming portrait exhibition.

Acrylic on canvas, 100 ร— 120 cm.

While painting her, I imagined she was flirting with a man across the table.
My daughter saw something else entirely:
a woman trapped at her motherโ€™s kitchen table, listening to
โ€œSoโ€ฆ when are you getting married?โ€

Same pose.
Very different stories.

What do you think is happening here?
