You’re not sure whether the office space you looked at will work for you. The broker scribbled a layout on a napkin to show you how you could use the odd angular space. It’s a few quadrilaterals on a piece of paper. You don’t know what to make of it.

This happened to my client. He was interested in a new office space but couldn’t figure out whether it would work for him.

He hired me to do a test fit.

The shape of the space was tricky but I managed to fit in everything he was looking for.

The broker had put the conference room in the corner. I gave him the corner office instead.

His response: "This is great and a very creative idea. I love that you made the corner office mine and also moved the conference room to a less 'prime' location but will still get plenty of light."

I just found out he bought the office.

𝘛𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘩!

Smart design de-risks decisions.

A test fit can be the difference between walking away and moving forward.

I've had a couple clients recently who brought me onto their projects too late. This leads to delays and extra costs.

Here's what happens:

Architects and landlords lock in the fundamentals early: AC systems, electrical layouts, sprinklers, approvals.

Then I come in and actually sit down with your teams to understand your needs, wants, dreams, vibes, culture, technical and productivity requirements, etc.

Then I think about how to arrange the space to make it perfect for you specifically, and on top of that, how you can have the most amazing environment humanly possible within the given square footage allotted.

Then what happens:

→Walls need to move.
→Electrical points need to change.
→Plumbing needs to reroute.
→AC needs to be reconsidered.
→Etc etc.

But the fundamentals have already been locked.

But who wants to stick with fine when changing things can make things 𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘻𝘪𝘯𝘨?

By that point, every adjustment means re-planning, re-coordinating with contractors, delays, and added cost.

Office interiors aren't just about aesthetics (though that's important). The planning and technical details will impact your nervous system on a day to day basis:

→How you feel
→How you think
→How you collaborate
→How you move through your day
→How you scale as you grow
→How many smiles you get in the hallway
→How many ideas sprout over coffee

Bringing an interior designer in early doesn't slow the process down, it prevents expensive backtracking later.

In office projects, you pay for mistakes with time, budget, and lost functionality.

A great interior designer will uncover the solutions you wouldn’t have thought of, by digging deep into your teams’ DNA and designing for 𝘺𝘰𝘶, from the 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵.

5 Workspace design takeaways to win the talent war in 2026

Solutions often sprout from unexpected connections. Like:

→ The product manager who overhears the customer service team’s problem.
→ The junior teammate who asks the question that unlocks a new approach.

They’re serendipitous, happy accidents at the coffee station, in the hallway, or on the way to a meeting.

Your close-knit team usually shares the same information.

Breakthroughs can pop up when you interact with teammates you see less often — the "weak ties" who bring different perspectives and insights to the table.

Your space can be designed to fuel this.

Some ideas to try:

→ Move your coffee maker to a central spot where multiple teams pass through.
→ Add a small table with two chairs near high-traffic areas.
→ Put a whiteboard in the hallway with a weekly prompt or challenge.
→ Widen your hallways just enough for two people to comfortably stop and talk without blocking traffic.
→ Add a bench with a view where people naturally want to linger.
→ Put snacks or a water cooler at the intersection of two departments.
→ Make your stairwells inviting instead of institutional: good lighting, some art, a couple chairs midway.
→ Design a single, high-end cafeteria rather than multiple small break rooms

You don't necessarily need a renovation budget.

You need to think differently about the spaces between the spaces.

Where do your teams naturally cross paths? What's one small thing you could add there this week?

If I hired a designer for my new office, these are the questions I would want to hear them ask:

1. What isn’t working in your current office that you don’t want to repeat in the new space?

2. What challenges have you had with space planning, acoustics, or team flow in the past?

3. What will a successful office look and feel like for your team, day-to-day?

4. What changes in productivity, culture, or hiring do you hope the new space will support?

5. What are your top priorities for the new office: focus, collaboration, client-facing wow factor, team energy, or something else?

6. What’s standing in the way right now: timing, budget clarity, lack of a floor plan, uncertainty about the building, anything else?

These are the questions I ask upfront. (Many more follow.)

They help ensure the office supports your goals, whether that's improving focus, facilitating collaboration, attracting talent, or something else.

Does your office need to be designed strategically? Send me a message and perhaps I can help you.

How to feel confident an office space works for your team — before you lease:
איך לוודא שהמשרד יעבוד לצוות שלכם — לפני שמחתימים על השכירות:

Do a test fit. 👇 עברית למטה

A client came to me to see if this angular corner office space could work for his therapy practice.

It’s tight.

He wants four private rooms — one more spacious than the others — plus a conference room with a therapy space and a receptionist desk, waiting area, and kitchenette.

I managed to give every office a window view, but many areas are a squeeze.

Will it work?

Jury’s out on what he decides.

Every client has their own priorities.

When you do a test fit before making a final decision on a space, your final decision is made with confidence that you’re meeting your key needs.
