New on my blog! Hluboká Castle and Holašovice Historic Village - on a day trip from our base in České Budějovice, we visited the beautiful Hluboká Castle, one of the Czech Republic’s best-known castles, followed by Holašovice, a picturesque historic village and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Two highlights from another lovely day exploring South Bohemia!

The main focus of my blog is to share my art with you, but I also enjoy writing the occasional post about an exhibition I have seen or a place I have visited. At the moment, I am working my way through my posts about our trip to the Czech Republic, sharing some of the places we discovered along the way.

This lovely comment made me stop for a moment and smile. It is always nice to know that people enjoy reading my posts, including those that are a little different from my usual art-related ones. Thank you to everyone who takes the time to read, comment and follow along. It really is appreciated! ❤️

Three years on from 7 October, I find myself struggling to find new words for something that still feels so painfully familiar.

Instead, I want to share this post again. I wrote it in January 2024, just a few months after the attacks, when the shock was still raw and the hostages were still being held in Gaza.

Reading it again now is a reminder of how those first months felt, and of the desperate hope we all held that they would be brought home 💛

These are certainly not the prettiest photos I will ever share on my blog. They aren't of birds or flowers, ancient ruins or even my w...

I’m so pleased to share that my blog post featuring an anniversary card I made for a special couple has been featured this week on ‘Talking About It Tuesday’! 🎉

The card recreated a favourite photograph of the happy couple at their daughter’s wedding.

Joanne at ‘Slices of Life’ shared that there were 100 entries in last week’s ‘Talking About It Tuesday’ link-up party, and my card was the most popular post! 🎉

New on my blog! Resort Čapí hnízdo - After walking our socks off in Prague, we treated ourselves to a couple of days at the beautiful Resort Čapí hnízdo before heading on to South Bohemia. The place is lovely, but it’s the fascinating history behind it that really caught my attention.

New on my blog! Terezín Ghetto and the Gestapo Prison

While planning our trip to Prague, we knew that a visit to Terezín, or Theresienstadt as I have always known it, was something we wanted to do. I’ve read about its history many times, but there is something very different about standing in the actual places where these events took place.

Terezín was used by the N***s as a Jewish ghetto and transit camp, and the nearby Small Fortress became a Gestapo prison. It was also used as part of a carefully constructed deception designed to hide the terrible reality of life there.

It was a sobering and moving day, and one that I felt I wanted to write about and share.

New on my blog! 32 Years Deserves a Medal - a special anniversary card recreating a favourite photo of the happy pair at their daughter’s wedding. I think the finished card really does look like them. I wonder if anyone in my friend’s group will recognise them from the card? 🤔
