We found the PERFECT carpet. It's warm, fits our color scheme, and we could see playing my client playing with her grandkids on it.

But I had a nagging feeling that we needed to see the carpet with the couch and armchair fabrics. It was a borderline match.

So I quickly called the furniture store and they prepared the fabric samples. I walked across Talpiot to pick up the fabrics.

When I got back we were able to see all the materials come together. And I was sure, it was the right carpet. With the right couch. And the right chairs. And this family was going to have the home that's just right for them.

This laundry room is exactly right for this family, but it's not right for everyone.

Which is why - after thoroughly talking through the placement, layout, and materials of this room - a very well-meaning friend questioned why we put the laundry room right where it is. They asked this the day before the renovation was supposed to start.

This was obviously very stressful for the client. She was suddenly questioning EVERY decision we made.

This happens all the time. A nice neighbor or a friend-who-helped-their-mother-renovate 2 years ago makes really helpful decisions after the client and I have gone through our process and made our decisions.

All it takes is a reminder that we made our decisions consciously and mindfully to get back on track, because we did. My process is mindful. Which is why this laundry room is perfect for this family.

For most people, laundry isn't fun. But it's inevitable and unavoidable.

But it can be easier if your laundry room is functional.

Or if it's a fun design. If you can smile every time you walk into your laundry room, that helps too.

This cozy master suite in Raanana almost didn't happen.

The attic had to be refinished to make it a useful space. But what exactly to do with it was the question. But once I got to know my clients it was so clear the parents were the one who needed and deserved this upgrade.

And here it is, the dream master suite.
