I believed most of the work happened at the drawing board.

Years of visiting construction sites changed that perspective.

A site has a way of questioning every assumption. It asks whether a detail can actually be built, whether a proportion feels right at full scale, whether a material behaves the way you imagined it would.

It also reminds you that architecture is never created by one person. Every project is shaped by the conversations between designers, contractors, craftsmen and the many people who bring an idea into reality.

Even today, I leave most site visits having learnt something new.

Perhaps that’s what I value most about this profession. No matter how many projects you complete, there is always something left to understand, refine and carry into the next one.

In this bathroom, the richness comes from restraint. A careful balance of stone, light and proportion allows the space to feel warm, composed and effortless without relying on unnecessary detail.
