A poem close to my heart—written for every soul who’s ever loved deeply, quietly, and endlessly. If this touched you, share it forward. Let someone know they’re not alone in their silent love.
"If You Had Only Held Me"
I never asked for stars or gold,
Only that you'd pause, and hold
My trembling voice when words ran dry,
To see the storm behind my eye.
I listened, love, I always did,
To every wound your silence hid.
But did you ever hear my heart
Cry softly when we drifted apart?
I gave you all—my calm, my fire,
My woven dreams, my small desires.
I wanted not a perfect man,
Just one who’d try to understand.
Not every tear becomes a scream,
Some fall quietly in dreams.
Each time you turned, your anger bare,
You never asked what lingered there.
I craved the warmth beneath your flame,
To hear you whisper just my name
Not in rage, or in defeat,
But in the hush of something sweet.
I wished you’d touch me with your gaze—
Not just in passion’s sudden blaze—
But in the morning’s sacred glow,
When love is soft, and time is slow.
Did you not see me, standing still?
A shore that took your every spill?
I bent, I broke, I bloomed for you,
Hoping you’d see my petals too.
But love that only rages loud
Will lose the sky, will lose the cloud.
And I, your shore, can only stay
Until my soul is washed away.
