Studio Mohenjodaro

Studio Mohenjodaro Architecture, Interior & Furniture Design Studio Studio Mohenjodaro is a multi-disciplinary design firm that was established in the year 2014.

Spearheaded by Tarunpreet Singh Bhatia, the practice deals with a variety of projects, regardless of the scale or the kind of style and detailing required. Designing of interior spaces is given as much attention as the planning of larger, architectural assignments. The ideological approach to each design, at the core, is to keep it practical and relatable. The studio believes that spatial quality

should not isolate the soul, rather it should comfort and nurture it, providing a sense of belonging and ownership to its occupant. In other words, the designs are contextual and fulfill the requirements of the clients. The design, more often than not, unravels itself after deliberately ironing out the complex layers of the built form. The corollary is a simple and understated yet comprehensively elegant design fabric that wraps the aesthetic.

Instead of walls, the transition between spaces is quietly articulated through the precast grooves running across the exposed concrete ceiling, subtly tracing zones within a larger volume. The ceiling becomes more than a surface overhead, acting almost like an invisible guide that brings order and continuity to the space below.

Large openings along the edge draw in changing light through the day, allowing shadows, reflections, and textures to slowly shift across the raw concrete and terrazzo surfaces. The space holds a certain stillness, where even the smallest details begin to stand out.

In The Brick Banyan, the dining space emerges as an anchor to everyday life, where meals stretch a little longer, conversations carry on unhurriedly.

Warm wood and woven cane set the tone, softened by diffused light that lingers gently in the background.

A low kitchen opening extends into the space like a ledge, holding objects, resting moments, while framing a connection beyond. It becomes a place of pause and exchange, where food, glances, and the small, in-between rituals pass through almost unconsciously.

THE BRICK BANYAN

This living room is designed as a calm, contemporary retreat, where raw materials meet crafted details, and light becomes part of the architecture. Concrete and terrazzo provide a grounded canvas, while warm wood and woven textures soften the edges. This juxtaposition is simple yet intentional, inviting both conversation and quiet pause, with daylight filtering through tall curtains to animate the space across the day.

A continuous bulkhead runs along the edges, discreetly housing the VRF piping while doubling up as a pelmet for the curtains, turning a purely functional necessity into a defining design feature.

Crafted details like these quietly elevate the space, adding layers of character to the home.

Nestled along the slopes of Shimla, the three-storey white home stands with effortless grace, its roofline a gentle accent against the sky.
The balconies lean outward with grace, inviting you to pause and breathe in the valleys below. It carries the elegance of modern design while keeping the soul of Himalayan tradition alive in its frame.
When snow settles across the roof, softens the stairs, and hushes the ground, the house becomes part of the silence, an intimate moment where the crisp mountain air and architecture meet in harmony.

An at_Thresholds conversation, hosted at Studio Mohenjodaro, with collaborating practices.
Shared goof-ups, honest laughter, and the quiet lessons that make practice stronger.
Because architecture isn't built on perfection, but on learning, reflection and showing up better the next time.

A foldable communal table defines the meditation space at Sabar.
When closed, the room opens up and functions as a multipurpose zone for movement and informal activities.
When unfolded, the same surface brings people together for meditation sessions, meetings, or a good old cup of coffee.
The choice of warm materials and a flexible layout allows the space to adapt throughout the day.

The strength of this space lies in what it avoids. Excess noise, and visual clutter are kept out, creating a quiet order where nothing feels accidental.
Movement feels easy here, guided by clear zones and gentle light, while everything works calmly in the background.

Introducing 𝗦𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗿...
Not a gym you rush through, but a space that slows you down.
Designed for movement without being watched, for pauses that don’t need justification.
Soft light... Quiet rooms... No pressure to prove.
You don’t come here to escape your thoughts. You come here, and they find their place.
