The journey of Murrays started at a small office space near the High Court of Madras on 10th February 1927 by Shri. Vendantam and his brother Shri. S Rajam worked tirelessly & firmly established Murrays as the premier auction house in Madras. During the initial years, Murrays focussed on auctioning immovable property and provided invaluable service to the Courts of Madras. Within three years of es
tablishment, the auction rooms were started at Mount Road. Weekly Sunday auctions of artifacts and quality, contemporary furniture have been a tradition at Murrays ever since, which continues till date. The Murrays Auction rooms on Mount Road (Anna Salai) are an integral part Chennai's map. From its humble beginnings, Murrays has grown leaps & bounds over the decades and is by far the oldest and the biggest auction house in South India. Murrays is synonymous with auctions in South India. The performance of Murrays in the last five financial years with a sales turnover of around โน 125 crores annually is a reflection of the strength of Murrays in the field of Auctioneering. Murrays has now entered a very exciting phase in its long journey. In 2012, our auction rooms were relocated to Mandaveli for a short stint to cater to the ever expanding limits of the city of Chennai. In 2015 the auction rooms of Murrays has moved back to Anna Salai, near the Gemini Circle.
