Garlic rasam
Dhal palak
Ridgegourd peel chutney
Ridgegourd porriyal
Ridge gourd masala rice- used a little of thw porriya and added some paruppu podi to make this. Someone at helmet doesnt like ridgegourd as curry but won't notice it if the rice is flavored with paruppu podi

Some crisps

There is a quite a bit of Ridgegourd in the menu. But not everyone eats all the three so its one dish for each!!!

These are a couple of plates from last week! 😊

I usually prepare two sets of meals for breakfast and lunch, and what ends up on the plate depends on a mix of dietary needs, personal preferences, and, of course, how easily I can mix and match ingredients to make cooking quicker and still get everything else done.

I genuinely enjoy cooking, though every day has its own flavour! Some days are smooth and effortless, some are a little hair-pulling, some turn into unexpected culinary adventures, and some are completely **sattvik** and simple.

Cooking for a family of six means there’s always variety, and I happily embrace it. Most days, I actually love the challenge of putting together different meals that work for everyone—and yes, somehow, getting it all done too! ❤️

Breakfast was chapati with dal and black chana curry, with the sides depending on everyone’s individual preference—some wanted dal, while others preferred the black chana curry.

For lunch, we had rice with a drizzle of ghee, along with the black chana curry from breakfast, since some of us love having it with rice too. The rest of the meal was pudalangai kootu, tomato rasam, avarakkai curry, a simple carrot salad, and curd.

I usually cook just enough of each dish for those who specifically want it, which helps keep leftovers to a minimum. And if there are any leftovers, I simply work them into the next meal along with whatever I’m cooking for dinner. It’s all about a little planning, mixing and matching, and making the most of what’s already in the kitchen!

Yesterday's lunch box for the kids...

Tomato briyani
Soya chunks manchurian semi gravy

These dishes are my kids favorite and I can always be sure of an empty tiffin box in the evening...

I made this roti and dal for breakfast a few days ago, and honestly, it was such a satisfying meal! The rotis were far from perfectly round, but when I’m making them just for myself, I rarely bother about the shape. As long as they’re cooked and ready to eat, I’m happy!

The dal was extra flavorful that day, maybe because I added a few more tomatoes, or perhaps because I made it in a hurry. Funny how sometimes, when we cook without overthinking, the dish turns out even better than usual!

And that filter coffee was the perfect finishing touch.

A hearty, comforting and absolutely delicious breakfast!
