A Muddy Road

A Muddy Road Pottery and Permaculture
based in India Samira is driven by her love of pottery and Yannick is the explorer and visionary.

It wasn’t long after we first met that we knew we would embark on a journey fuelled by the desire to learn about alternative ways of living and creativity. The birth of A Muddy Road is in gratitude of our chosen path. Our intention is to live and learn as much as we can; most likely in places not often listed as tourist destinations and in ways that most definitely will challenge our comfort zones.

But “sometimes it’s a little better to travel than to arrive”.

Thank you to everyone who messaged and liked our stories. We’ve received an outpouring of love and support. We are so very grateful to all of you for cheering us on and following us on this journey. It’s been nothing short of amazing and gruelling at the same time.
Nothing is ever permanent and like with this space, we still have many more things we’d like to incorporate. We’re excited to see how the little tweaks we intend to do will continue to change this space. For the moment we are simply thrilled to pause, hang up our work clothes and enjoy the stillness.

A few moments of this last 2 week period of September. It’s been a madhouse. The guest cottage is nearing completion and the efforts are in full force. It’s starting to feel a little surreal that this project we’ve worked on for 1 year will come to an end - so many days it felt like it would never finish.
It’s been a huge learning curve and it’s tested our limits so many times and for that we shall be forever grateful. We’re glad for the challenge and also very happy with how things have turned out.
We cannot wait to share what it looks like once the dust settles.
Happy Thursday 🫶🏽

July flew by so fast in hues of pink and green 🌸🩷🌺🌷🎀🎋🪲🌿💚🦠
It was a busy busy month planting out our “food forest” trees and fencing them in. We also found the time to plant out a few trees in the forest to our east. We are doing this to increase the tree count and its flora diversity.
The guest cottage also saw progress: mainly our painting work was completed. We are so in love with our green and pink bathroom. Yannick also fitted glass into the windows and started the electrical work. It’s finally coming together. I hope August is as powerful ❣️

April dump 🌼
We totally sidestepped March and its miseries and found ourselves insanely busy most of April. We managed to address our water shortages. We redid some of our (water) piping and installed a 2nd cottage tank and pressure pump. Yannick welded a tank lid for the underground tank and created a shade house for some of our potted plants. Then we had a carpenter make and install a door for the guest cottage and painted some of the wooden elements in our spare time (not without sanding of course). There was also plenty of pruning and repotting and garden dreaming. And best of all the month ended with us taking some much needed time to recuperate.
And as some of you may have already figured, we are currently visiting family in Germany 🍻
Updates en route…

Woodwork: Yannick’s started work on the kitchen shelf. He was eager to replace the previous one (I didn’t see the urgency 😉) That’s just how it goes between us. I’ve been sandpapering obsessively for days, all the while Yannick wonders what I’m fussing over 😅
Couple renovations are fun - it’s always interesting to observe what each of us find workable or unacceptable. We enjoy this dynamic, we both focus & fuss over different things and in the end we accomplish more collectively.

Today’s takes - we’re pushing ourselves to make sure we are paint ready by next week. Which means we want to get all the dusty stuff done before the painting starts. We have sanding, filling holes, a little plastering and some paint removing to do. So send us some good vibes please 🙏🏽✌🏽🤎
