🌿 A little world of trees, birds & patterns 🐦✨

Sharing this Gond-inspired artwork today—a vibrant tree brought to life with colourful birds and intricate patterns.

What I love about Gond art is the way simple forms are transformed through lines, dots, repetitive patterns and rhythmic detailing. Traditionally associated with the Gond tribal communities of Central India, Gond painting often draws inspiration from nature—trees, birds, animals and everyday life—creating a beautiful connection between art and the natural world.

For me, folk art is always an opportunity to explore, learn and add my own creative interpretation. ❤️

✨ Before the brush knew where it was going…

Long before I thought of myself as an artist, there was simply a girl who loved to draw. ❤️

Looking back at these portraits I made as a teenager, I can see the beginning of a journey — the curiosity, the experimentation, the fascination with faces, expressions and the endless possibilities of a pencil and a sheet of paper.

They may not be perfect, but they hold something far more precious to me: the innocence of creating simply because I loved to create.

Every artist has a beginning. Sometimes, it starts quietly, years before we even realise that art will become such an important part of our lives.

These are a few little pieces from my very early artistic journey. 🎨✨

Some paintings deserve a second look… 🌿🎨

Going back through these older works brought back so many memories of an earlier chapter of my painting journey.

These paintings of trees, landscapes and nature were created during that period when I was simply exploring, experimenting and enjoying the process of putting what I saw and felt onto paper.

Looking at them today, I realise how much our art evolves with us—but certain subjects keep calling us back. 🌳

Sharing a little glimpse into those earlier days of my artistic journey.
Some old paintings, some beautiful memories, and a love for art that continues to grow. ❤️

When colours meet music… something beautiful happens. 🎨🎶

A little glimpse from a musical evening at home, when I had the joy of hosting family and friends and singing a song from Parineeta.

Painting and music may seem like two different worlds, but for me, they come from the same place—the love of expression, emotion and beauty.

My paintings fill my home with colour, while music fills it with another kind of warmth. ❤️

Some evenings are simply meant to be enjoyed, remembered… and shared.

Some faces stay with you long after the film ends… ✨

A little journey back to one of the portraits I created of Aishwarya Rai from Guzaarish — recreated in my own way, stroke by stroke, on A3 size paper. 🎨

There was something so captivating about her character and that particular look… it was one of those portraits I simply had to paint.

Watching the making of it again brings back the joy of creating it, one detail at a time. ❤️

A portrait. A memory. A little piece of cinema on paper.

What do you think of this one? ✨

7 things I wish I knew before I started watercolour. 🎨

Some of these little habits improved my paintings.

One even changed the way I sit and paint.

From controlling the water on your brush, to keeping two water cups, preparing your paints, working from light to dark — these are simple things that can make watercolour much easier, especially when you’re a beginner.

And then there’s one lesson I learnt much later: your painting setup matters too.

I spent years painting with my work flat on the table, constantly bending my neck. Moving to a raised, angled board made painting much more comfortable for me.

So I’ve put together some of the things I wish I had known earlier — not complicated rules, just practical habits that really help.

Save this for your next painting session, and swipe through. 🤍

A little secret about watercolour… 🎨

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learnt while painting with watercolour is that more is not always better.

Sometimes we keep adding colour, correcting, blending and layering — and slowly, we lose the freshness that makes watercolour so beautiful.

Here are three things I try to remember:

✨ Let the colours flow.
Give them space to blend naturally instead of controlling every edge.

✨ Keep your palette simple.
Too many pigments mixed together can quickly make colours look dull and muddy.

✨ Protect your whites.
In watercolour, the paper itself can become your brightest highlight. Not every part of the painting needs to be filled with colour.

And perhaps the most important one:

Know when to put the brush down.

Sometimes the magic happens in those little areas we choose not to touch. 🤍

Save this for your next watercolour session and tell me — which one do you struggle with most?

🎨 The Making of a Watercolour Portrait

Sharing a little glimpse into the making of one of my favourite watercolour portraits.

From the first delicate washes and pencil lines, slowly building the face, to the deeper tones, intricate jewellery, flowers and final details — the painting evolved layer by layer.

I love this part of the process: watching a blank sheet gradually find its expression, colour and character.
Watercolour is all about patience, restraint and knowing when to let the paper speak.

This is an original A2-size watercolour painting, created entirely by hand.

Swipe through the stages and watch her come to life. 🤍💙
