LALITTYA started in 2016 as a small firm providing remodeling facilities to families, couples, singles or anybody who is looking for a change in their lives and their homes. Our central idea is that every client has a story and that work environment is a great vehicle for telling it. When we are doing our initial programming on a project, we get all the basics- the headcount, the need of the clien

t and so on, but we also want to know our clients on a personal level-who the people are and what do they like to do ? Lalittya takes a collaborative, studio approach to a wide variety of projects, from regional planning to rain gardens. We are designers, historic preservation specialists and landscape designers; we are both specialists and generalists. Our core mission is to design, rehabilitate and preserve environments that bring delight. Our studio provides a full scope of services: feasibility and zoning studies, interior design and furnishings, site planning, landscape and garden design. Founded in Delhi and now based in Chandigarh, we focus on the tri-state region. The firm’s completed projects and consulting work, however, range from Ahemdabad to Delhi. Our environmental ethic compels the integration of interiors and landscapes from earliest conception. The values of sustainability guide decisions from site plan to plumbing specifications. We and our consultants are able to bring the latest information about design to you. We see sustainability as good design, not a fad or a point system. Our related principal focus is to make an easy living for the client. Our studio location reflects and shapes our attitude towards our work. The result of our work as stylist, designer and general contractor is small bunk. We have organized our office to maintain a personal, craftsman-like connection throughout the course of design and construction. We listen carefully to clients; we appreciate traditions but look at each project freshly in its own right; and we stay at the cutting edge of twenty-first-century building technology and design.

and one of them is my mother — who started her own business at 52 because i pushed her into it. proof that the timeline is not fixed.

eight years in, and honestly i’d still get some of these wrong on a bad day.

number 4 is the one that cost me the most. i kept hiring people who could do the work and hoping the rest would sort itself out. it never sorts itself out. attitude walks in every morning whether you planned for it or not.

number 5 is the one i finally fixed this year. every process written down, every role on paper, everyone knowing what is theirs. it should have happened in year three, not year eight.

which one are you living through right now? tell me, i’ll probably relate.
