As twilight settles over the Western Ghats, this Coorg retreat glows like a lantern in the forest—its laterite base rooted deep in the red earth, while tiled eaves stretch wide like outstretched arms. Glass corners invite the jungle in, and rain chains whisper stories into the soil. A home that breathes with the land, built to linger in both memory and mist.

Dream Coffee 2
A sanctuary in the sky, this wooden mezzanine lounge is where architecture opens its arms to the landscape. Crowned by a soaring terracotta-double-tiled pitched roof and framed with delicate wood detailing, the space blurs the line between indoors and nature, inviting the forest canopy into the room with every window. A central bay window becomes both perch and portal—offering a meditative seat to watch the seasons turn just beyond.

The material language is restrained but warm: ivory-toned sofas, polished hand-turned wooden balustrades, and soft furnishings in neutral tones create a calm, grounded core. Accents of brass, greenery, and natural light create a quietly luxurious setting. Light enters from all directions—side arched windows, clerestory slits in the gable, and the vast window wall—illuminating every beam, every detail, the glass skylights in the terracotta tiled roof cast magical light patterns in a shifting rhythm from morning to twilight.

With its soaring volume and serene visual rhythm, the space becomes more than a lounge. It’s a retreat, a reading nook, a stargazer’s balcony—and above all, a place to pause and go within.

Dream Coffee 1
Bathed in dappled sunlight and the rustling calm of tree canopies just beyond, the formal living room of this Coorg Coffee Estate home becomes a quiet sanctuary where architecture and nature breathe deeply of each other. The space is anchored by a vocabulary of understated elegance—hand-chiseled stone flooring, solid wood benches, reclaimed wooden columns, and a mix of new and upcycled antique furniture that seamlessly harmonise.

At one end, a gently blushed upholstered sofa with silk-accented cushions sits in counterpoint to a richly carved rosewood settee that glows with jewel-toned upholstery. Between them, a low-profile circular table in warm timber serves as a gathering point, adorned with curated brass accents that echo the palette of the home—earth, metal, and wood in harmonious conversation. The palette throughout is deliberate: muted neutrals punctuated by plum, gold, and deep rust, grounding the room while offering moments of vibrancy.

Above, a constellation of drum pendant lights descends from the soaring twenty-foot ceiling, framing the vertical volume of the space with a soft architectural rhythm. Light spills through the clerestory window and garden-facing doors, casting fluid shadows that transform the mood from morning to dusk. The design draws the eye outward—to the deck, to the garden, earth and sky.
In its totality, the room offers more than just seating—it offers serenity, memory, and a sense of timeless repose. In fact, the powerful quiet is a tangible presence:slow living redefined.
