Recently, I received the single best compliment ever.
No, it wasn’t “you design gorgeous homes.”
It also wasn’t “I love your work.”
It was simply ~
“Everyone should get their home styled by you.”
And somehow, those simple words became one of the biggest compliment ever.
Because what she was really recognising was how much I care about the details.
As a designer, I take enormous pride in going right down to the last detail ~ the edge of a shelf, the profile of a moulding, the hardware on a cabinet, the right k**b on a door.
And then I take that same attention all the way through the styling.
The drapes. The cushions. The art and exactly how it is hung. The flowers. The objects. The coffee table books. Even the little candle on the bedside table.
I like to handpick everything. And honestly, that’s me at my best.
Not because every detail needs to announce itself, but because everything should feel like it always belonged there.
A home, to me, is not about how much you put into it. It’s about how thoughtfully you put it together.
The architecture, the furniture, the materials, the lighting and the styling all need to speak the same language.
Because you can have a beautifully designed home, but it’s the attention to the last detail that makes it feel complete, considered and truly yours.
And perhaps that’s what she was really complimenting ~ not just the way my homes look, but the amount of thought that goes into making every single part of them feel intentional.
