Are you confused about where to use HDHMR board and where to use plywood?
Actually, HDHMR board is generally the better choice for kitchen shutters, wardrobe shutters, and any customized designs, especially when we are planning to use DUCO paint, PU paint, or CNC designs.
For these types of applications, we prefer to use HDHMR board 100% for the shutters because its surface is very smooth. Due to this smooth surface, the final finishing comes out much better and cleaner.
If we use blockboard or plywood for shutters, the surface is comparatively not as smooth and may have slight unevenness. Because of this, when light falls on the surface or when there is direct projection from lighting inside the house, the unevenness can become visible.
Similarly, when we apply laminate or acrylic on plywood or blockboard shutters, there can be a higher possibility of surface undulations, minor unevenness, or bubbles appearing over time.
With HDHMR board, these issues are reduced significantly—almost 99% of the chances are eliminated when the material is properly processed and installed.
That is why, at Ramasethu Interiors, we use HDHMR board for shutters across our projects, especially wherever we require a premium, smooth, and high-quality finish.
So, in simple terms:
For shutters + PU/DUCO paint + CNC/customized designs → HDHMR is the preferred choice.
For internal carcass/body construction → plywood is generally preferred, depending on the application and design requirements.
