You’re adding more fragrance oil to get a stronger scent.

That’s the mistake.

Most new candle makers load 15–20% fragrance — because it feels logical. More oil = more scent. But your wax has a saturation point, and once you cross it, the extra oil has nowhere to bind.

So instead of a stronger candle, you get:
→ Oil that sweats and pools on the surface
→ A greasy top that never fully sets
→ Weak scent throw (the opposite of what you wanted) → And a fire hazard near the wick

The sweet spot for soy wax? 6–10% by weight. Not by eye. Not by feel. By weight on a scale.

Here’s the only formula you need:
Wax weight × % = fragrance grams 500g
wax at 8% = 40g fragrance. That’s it.

Most candle makers blame the fragrance. Or the wick. Or the jar. But the real culprit is almost always pour temperature. 🌡️🕯️
Wax forms its crystalline structure the moment it starts cooling — and the temperature it was poured at determines how that structure sets. Pour too hot and your fragrance evaporates before the candle is even made. Pour too cold and bubbles, wet spots, and poor adhesion show up two days later.
