We’ve spent years perfecting the table before the meal. Tony Matelli is more interested in what it looks like after 🍽️

Dinner plates suspended mid-fall. Half-eaten meals frozen in bronze. A w**e bottle that will never quite finish tipping. All of it painstakingly recreated in bronze, silicone, and resin - trompe l’oeil so precise it makes you look twice at objects you’ve looked past a thousand times.

The traces of a meal, it turns out, say more about the people who gathered than the table ever did before they arrived.

A few indian brands figured this out early, long before the café-in-a-store idea became something everyone was doing.

Some of these have been around since the 80s, quietly becoming as much a part of the visit as the shopping itself.
We picked six that we love, and that still feel exactly the way they must have when they opened 🤍.
