Bluemadegreen

Bluemadegreen What began with upcycling denim into new products in 2013 grew into a venture of upcycling old cloth

Most of us are unaware of the amount of electricity, water and fuel are required to make the clothes we own, creating its own impact on the environmental impact at each stage of their journeys. Our venture focuses on valuing the fabrics and provide new meaning to their presence in your lives after they serve the function you first bought them for! We make upcycled products from unused/old clothes

as well as fabric leftovers from tailoring units! Our customised products are a collaboration between our customers and ourselves, with their ideas and preferences, and our ideas and designs at bluemadegreen, bringing it to life, or rather giving a whole new life to the fabrics :)

Products that are ‘YOU’

Denim, a fabric one relates to comfort and style, is a cotton-based material which, when manufactured, has huge environmental consequences. Yes, your favourite pair of jeans which you cherish has come quite a long way to end up in your cupboard.

400 MJ of energy, 1500 galleons of water, 3 kilograms of chemicals (including synthetic indigo dye and pesticides used to grow cotton) and one and a half pounds of cotton goes in to make one pair of jeans. The output is clean water bodies dirtied with the dumping of harmful leftover dyes and acid mine drainage, 32 kilograms of carbon dioxide and, of course, one pair of jeans.

According to Cotton Incorporated, 450 million pairs of jeans are sold in the United States alone. The toll the manufacture of denim has taken on the environment worldwide is alarming.

The concept of Bluemadegreen is to lengthen the lifespan of all fabrics, including the extremely durable denim. Most of us have old pairs of jeans hidden in the depths of our cupboards since they no longer fit us or simply because they are too old. Our job at Bluemadegreen is to help give those unused pairs of jeans new lives, as customised accessories or outfits of your choice. Bluemadegreen ensures that all the materials used to make the upcycled products other than the cloth itself are of excellent quality.
