"The vibrant world of artist Zakkir Hussain's works has been one of the most interesting curatorial challenges I've encountered, ever since I organized his first one-man show in 1998. Over the years of vigorous practice, he has developed a unique language that is neither visual nor verbal – an invisible presence of verbs resonating out of a large space filled with human forms, objects, and other matters. Human forms correlating with discarded objects create an atmosphere that addresses issues that are culturally and politically invisible and unheard from news media or other forms of socially communicative media. In creative expressions like art and literature, these issues exist but in fragmented, tender forms, mostly hidden within the presence of mundane issues.
Zakkir Hussain, in the process of creating art in continuous progression, establishes this invisible and inaudible issue into a powerful, unique language that produces certain sounds and performs.
We cordially invite you to the exhibition preview of Zakkir Hussain's works on December 5 at Draavidia Gallery, Fort Kochi. We look forward to your presence.
