We designed the Contour House to be more than just a home; we wanted it to be a spatial response to the rhythms of a multi-generational family. To see that intent recognized and featured by Architectural Digest is the perfect conclusion to this project’s journey.

From the “sandwich strategy” that guided our material choices to the structural curves that redefined a standard apartment shell, this feature dives into the “why” behind the design. It captures the essence of what we strive for: architecture that is polished enough for a magazine, but relaxed enough for a nine-year-old to hang from the ceiling.

Most people wait for the final handover to see the ‘design,’ but for us, the work is mostly done by the time the site looks like in the last clip.

This walkthrough shows the transition of the Master Closet in Contour House. The brief was about creating a sense of calm through order, a space that works hard but looks effortless. Even in the semi-finished state, those proportions were locked in. We spend a lot of time on site during this phase to ensure the ex*****on holds the line of the original drawing. The result is exactly what the client asked for, with the kind of detailing they didn’t even know they needed.

Contour House | Parents’ Bedroom

This is the room that works without being noticed, that was the point.

Full-height veneer panelling wraps the walls, warm and uninterrupted. Within it, storage disappears, cupboards you don’t see until you need them. The bathroom door is hidden in plain sight, the wall reading as one continuous surface.

A fluted black unit adds a little depth. A mirror catches whatever light filters through. Nothing competes. Everything supports.

This is design that steps back, so the people in the room can step forward.

This wall started in the living room. It ends here.

The curve was a response to the layout, nothing more. But it travels through the home, appearing in different rooms, tying things together without trying too hard.

In the bedroom, it’s just a backdrop. Soft peach. A few niches. A bench nearby. Nothing fancy. Just part of the room.

The walk-in closet is right there, a few steps from the bed.

No long hallways. No dramatic reveal. Just the convenience of having everything you need within reach; clothes in the morning, a place to get ready, space that works with your rhythm rather than against it.

Doors when you want privacy. Open when you don’t. The same warmth carries through, because even a functional moment deserves to feel considered.

Contour House | Dining Area

The dining area completes the living room. Connected in flow but distinct in mood, this is where the family gathers for meals, celebrations, and everyday rituals.

The custom table, bench, and chairs feel solid but never heavy. Mustard and patterned upholstery add warmth, a quiet echo of the green accents just steps away. Above, the petal light from .co floats softly, its muted tone merging with the limewash ceiling. Present, but never loud.

Opposite, a black fluted sideboard with curved edges adds storage and softness. Four terracotta artworks from .meraki provide the perfect blush of colour.

A room that knows its role: to gather, to hold, to quietly support the life around it.

Contour House | Living Room

Every great home has a heart. At Contour House, it beats here.

This is where the journey began, the L-shaped living room that refused to be rectangular. The curved wall that gave the home its name. The space that taught us that softness is strength.

Weeks later, we keep coming back to it. Not because we have to, but because every corner reveals something new.

The way the curved sofa invites people to gather without feeling like a crowd. The veneer TV unit with its river-washed stone niches, a small detail, a quiet surprise. The dining area beyond, where a petal light floats overhead and mustard upholstery adds just enough warmth.

Even the foyer, with its striped marble floor and arched ceiling, sets the stage for everything that follows.

This is the room we return to. The one that holds the family, the conversations, the everyday. And after exploring every other corner of this home, it feels good to be back where it all started.
