See, drawings are one thing…. But then you go to site and there are marble samples to check… details to sort… questions to answer and decisions to make.

Basically, this is also design.

Just the less glamorous part of it.

See, two creative minds working together is great and all..... But in the middle of an intense design discussion, it is also extremely important to establish whose idea it was in the first place.

Priorities.

Not every part of design happens at a desk….. and we barely site on our desks.

Usually it’s being on site.
Checking what’s happening.
Asking questions.
Taking updates.
Catching what doesn’t look right.
Figuring things out with the team.

THE VEIL

The Veil began with an image of a Rajasthani woman walking across the dunes towards her haveli, her sari moving with the desert wind.

The floor lamp takes from that movement rather than interpreting the veil literally. The way the fabric lifts, falls and changes form became the starting point for the curves of the piece.

An alabaster light runs through the centre, surrounded by a folded metal sheet and a hand-knotted rug that wraps around the structure. As the rug moves around the light, parts of it are exposed while others are screened.

For Rugs Reimagined, this was another way of asking what a rug could become when it was taken off the floor.

The Veil is our answer.

THE KEEPER
It began with the gesture of two open hands.
Hands that do not possess, but receive.
Designed to hold books, rare manuscripts and objects of knowledge, The Keeper transforms the familiar bookstand into a ceremonial object.
Satin brass forms its structure. A hand-knotted rug clings to its body before breaking free at the base, flowing outward across the floor.
The rug is not an embellishment. It becomes the narrative itself.
A manuscript arrives.
The hands receive it.
The Keeper holds it.
A reader opens it.
And eventually, people gather to listen.
Because knowledge was never meant simply to be stored.

It was meant to travel.

THE ROYAL RITUAL

Before dressing became routine, it was ritual.
A fragrance. A jewel. A watch. A final gesture before stepping into the world.
The Royal Ritual reimagines the traditional valet as a sculptural contemporary object, where walnut pegs hold what we hang, a circular tray gathers what we carry, and a rug refuses its conventional place on the floor, climbing the furniture before flowing back onto it.
Once it may have held the possessions of a Maharaja. Today, a watch, cap, perfume, sunglasses or keys.

The objects changed. The ritual didn’t.

Some days you come to office with a proper plan.

Then one person gets a call, someone puts another call on speaker, someone leaves the discussion to take a third call… and suddenly nobody remembers what the original discussion was about.

At this point, Monday is not a day. It is a daily routine.

The ceiling installation within the basement transforms the structure into a central part of the spatial experience. Extending fluidly across the ceiling and beam, the intervention introduces movement, rhythm, and depth through layered laminates and integrated lighting. What begins as a structural element gradually becomes part of the visual language of the space itself.

As visitors move through the floor, the installation shifts continuously with perspective - curves elongate, shadows soften, and illuminated surfaces reveal new layers of texture and dimension. Light travels across the forms in a way that changes the atmosphere throughout the journey, creating moments that feel immersive, sculptural, and quietly dynamic.

The interplay between material, geometry, and illumination brings a sense of continuity to the basement level, guiding movement while adding warmth and spatial depth overhead. Every line and transition was designed to create a ceiling experience that feels fluid rather than static.

At Century Arena, the installation becomes more than a feature - it becomes an architectural gesture that reshapes how the space is seen, felt, and moved through.
