Design POV 2026 was many things at once; a fair, a provocation, an experience.

The theme this year was Sense and Sensibility and the studios took it seriously. Not just visually, but spatially, materially, emotionally. Walking through fully built worlds with no client brief behind them hits differently. You start asking yourself questions you hadn’t thought to ask in a while.

That’s the thing about being in a room full of people who care deeply about design, it’s quietly upskilling. Every installation, every conversation, every material choice someone made that you wouldn’t have, it all adds up.

This is why we show up to things like this. Not just to see what’s new; but to remember why we do what we do.

We’re a futuristic, parametric architecture firm; but we don’t design in a vacuum.

There’s a reason Indian homes have jaalis, courtyards, verandahs, and thresholds that soften the line between inside and out. They respond to our climate, our way of gathering, our relationship with light and air. That logic doesn’t disappear just because the form is contemporary.

So we take those principles and translate them forward. Natural ventilation through strategic openings. Screens that filter harsh sun while framing views. Spaces that let families connect visually across floors. Terraces that become modern courtyards; places to gather, breathe, and feel grounded.

Architecture that looks futuristic. But the way you live in it? That’s deeply, unapologetically Indian.

Modern, yet Indian. Not as a style. As a sensibility.

Mehta Manor | Design Process

This villa sits on a contoured ridge in Neral; a site that could’ve been flattened and built on conventionally, but would’ve lost everything that makes it special. So we let the land lead. The curvilinear form, the terracing, the sweeping roofline; all of it responds to the natural slope and the valley views beyond.

The design process for a project like this isn’t about imposing a vision. It’s about listening to the site, understanding how the family will live here, and translating that into a form that feels inevitable. Sketches help us think through the curves, test the sightlines, and figure out how a house can grow out of a hillside instead of just sitting on top of it.

Mehta Manor | Design Approach

Form follows site. Always.

For a family relocating from Mumbai to live here most of the year, the architecture had to do more than look beautiful. It had to frame the right views, create spaces that flow between indoors and outdoors, and require minimal upkeep so they could focus on the life they came here to build; farming, hosting, slowing down.
The form isn’t just sculptural. It’s intentional. And it’s designed around how they’ll actually live.

Mehta Manor, Neral

Perched on a contoured ridge plot in Neral, this villa is designed not as a weekend escape, but as a home to be lived in, deeply, slowly, for months at a time.

The clients wanted to leave Mumbai’s density behind and relocate to an acre of land where they could farm and host family. So we worked with the natural slope, terracing the landscape in stone-clad walls that become part of the site. The lower level opens onto gardens where vegetables grow and gatherings happen. Upstairs, private spaces wrapped in glass frame uninterrupted valley views.

The roof flows in continuous sweeping curves, anchoring the structure into the hillside. Timber screens, natural stone, and floor-to-ceiling glazing ground the design in its landscape. Every space is oriented toward the experience of slowing down; mornings in the garden, evenings watching the hills, and a life that doesn’t ask you to leave.
