Founder and principal designer for Purple Backyard – Kumpal has a background in Space Design and Styling from Central Saint Martins – London, and professional

training in Interior Design from Rachna Sansad School of Interior Design – Mumbai. She had the early opportunity of nurturing her talent and passion by working with many illustrious designers in the city. An ideology she lives by is one of “constant learning and unlearning”. As the founder at Purple Backyard, her vision is to evolve through design while exploring sustainable solutions to execute them. Her fascination of minimal layering coupled with a play of refreshing materials has resulted in the creation of a unique identity of art, that is visible in all her creations. With over 10 years in the industry, the studio has a rank in the 2019 list of Top 100 Design Divas in association with AD and multiple awards by Houzz.com in Best design and Service for multiple years running.

In this Mumbai home, the master suite unfolds as an intimate world of quiet luxury. A crafted partition connects the jewel-wall study and the bedroom, creating two zones that feel private yet seamlessly linked. Natural light filters through sheers and slats, softening the millwork, wardrobes, and corridors, while custom lighting highlights art and detail.

This is contemporary Indian luxury redefined - refined, layered, and timeless.

Conceptually, it came together as we sat and thought about how a wall of shelves can be more than storage: it can be a library, a reflection of all things personal, a quiet representation of someone’s world. Still, yet a statement. Here, it becomes just that a statement wall in German silver, a memory wall that holds cherished possessions like prose.
