Unpredictable discoveries continued on my first visit to Amritsar. And that Lord Elgin, the new cocktail bar and restaurant, may be redefining this second-largest city in Punjab on India’s culinary map. Different, cosmopolitan yet regionally-forward.

On a sunny afternoon, we strolled through a paved walkway to reach Lord Elgin . Sundry visuals remind one of various references: a Bridgerton-esque setting, a hidden garden cave or a time-travel to a Victorian-era glasshouse. Founders Kavish and Shruti Khurana worked with Sanchit Arora of RENESĀ Architecture Studio .architects to shape the space into reality. High glass ceilings, a central curved bar, bespoke chandeliers only begin to define the details here. “The bar was to depict a sun-drenched palette set within its own oasis that provides a sense of exotic escapism,” says Sanchit.

What’s on the menu? While chole-kulche and dal makhani are colloquial staples of Amritsar — chef curators Suvir Saran and Vardaan Marwah add their seasoned strokes to bring global yet local dishes. Modernistic Delhi-6 chaat packs the sass of flavours found at chaatwaalahs in Old Delhi. And this is not all!

Tour the space and read more about all that Lord Elgin bundles up. (Link in bio)

in the capital city epitomizes a meticulous design philosophy and an evolving coffee culture. The space has been thoughtfully crafted and marks a significant milestone in QBF’s journey.

The design intention was to create an environment where every detail enhances the sensory experience. As patrons step into QBF, they are greeted by the rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee, a scent that dances through the air and beckons them inside. Sunlight streams through meticulously placed large windows, painting the space in hues of gold during the enchanting golden hour. The gentle rays cast a warm glow, illuminating the serene ambiance and creating a tranquil haven where time seems to slow down. The result is a place where guests are invited to savor the moment and indulge in the simple pleasures of life, making each visit a memorable experience.

The design of QBF embraces a Japandi aesthetic, a seamless blend of Japanese and Scandinavian influences that radiate warmth and simplicity. The tonal palette varies from deep, rich monotone hues to soft, beige tones, all resonating with the soothing atmosphere of a quintessential coffee shop. The use of travertine tiles and neutral shades enhances the calm, inviting feel, making it an ideal space for both work and relaxation.

Divyam Mehta ~ a retail story.

The store is a juxtaposition of handcrafted details with minimalist modern elements. A sense of quietude prevails as you enter the store, with natural materials like raw oak-wood and matt brass blending in seamlessly with the micro-concrete flooring in white Tortora. Large windows invite plenty of natural light in, allowing you to admire Divyam Mehta’s immaculate handiwork.

In the labyrinthine streets of Mumbai, a cultural revolution is underway; one that is reshaping the city's fashion ethos. The streetwear phenomenon, once synonymous with the bustling avenues of New York and Tokyo, has found a fervent home in Mumbai’s diverse landscape. What was once a niche movement has now permeated the very fabric of the city's youth culture, weaving a narrative that intertwines self-expression, urban sensibilities, and a penchant for the avant-garde. This transformative shift is deeply rooted in the evolving aspirations of Mumbai’s youth, who view fashion as a means of creative expression, embracing individuality over conformity.

Enter Extra Butter ()– a progressive New York-based streetwear and lifestyle brand that has set foot in Mumbai, establishing its first international outpost outside the USA. Nestled in the bustling business hub of Lower Parel, Extra Butter’s Mumbai flagship store is not merely a retail space; it is a narrative woven in threads of urban sensibilities and the avant-garde. The store stands as a testament to the seamless blend of Mumbai’s rich artistic heritage and the dynamic energy of New York City. Conceptualized in 2007 by brothers Ankur and Nick Amin, Extra Butter was born out of a passion for sneakers, film, sports, and culture. In Mumbai, the brand finds its architectural voice through the vision of interior designer of Essajees Atelier ().
